Brian and Thomas: Try a sony bloggie or flip hd. Large sensor-shallow dof may sound nice, but in most likelyhood, you will miss focus and miss the scene.

![]() Sounds familiar. I can remember going from my first couple slow SLR lenses to my first fast lenses and starting to think about how my pictures didn't look as good. They do when you get it just right, but often you get it wrong because of aperture abuse and missed the focus or just had too little DOF. I don't miss the speed that much when using my 16-80 over my F2.8s or my primes. At times yes, but more often, not a big deal. |

Maybe, but only insofar as you don't use any equipment to its fullest potential. Personally one of my greatest joys in photography is managing DoF. I was using an a200 and 16-80 for most of my photography then I switched to the a850 and only primes for anything under 135mm and I can take photos I can't take with the former combination. There is no way around that fact that I can see. Two examples: ![]() a850 and 135mm at f2 ![]() a850 and 135mm at f1.8 They may not win me any awards but when I shot them I knew exactly what I was after and I would not have been able to achieve them with any other combination. |

Mine was saying the same too and I got her one of those little gadgets. Not that she minds shooting with an A700 or now the A850, for videos she prefers the simplicity of the small SD based camcorder. To make the deal sweeter, the new bloggies have a rotating sensor making self videos (with the kid resting on the arm) very easy.

It's like that old commercial in the U.S. that had Carly Simon's song in the background. The ketchup was taking it's merry old time coming out of the bottle. "Anticipation..Is makin' me late..Is keepin' me waitin'." Well, to many, Sony is late but we are all waiting.

in the sony movie ad it shows how the camera easily allows the user to turn a dial and "micro adjust" the focus, while watching the lcd. It showed the focal plane clearly as the control was turned to see the video there's a link on the screen in red http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/dslr/2/compact-camera#news actually it looks pretty useful also in the video i noticed that they only showed the front of the camera, with lens, in the very beginning and it is very OOF it'd be interesting when sony tries and add with a zoom or long prime, since that won't look so small |

Gustav, we certainly don't want you to remain "detached", even if once in a while your predictions miss the mark. We value every single one of your predictions and their hit rate is FAR higher than anyone else. ![]() |
