+1. And personally I value your prediction far higher than those rumor websites outside. ![]() ![]() Edited by hoge-fan - 19 April 2010 at 09:27 |

I can't find the video on Youtube, and the UK one doesn't have the Sweep Panorama slide. I wonder if anybody is up to watching all the videos here:

The Sony Alpha Rumours site has a link to a video on the Sony Japan site which includes an example of a panorama photo:

I certainly agree, Gustav. It was the people who were telling you about the PR on April 18 who had misunderstood. And missing a few is part of the nature of predicting. |

now they are talking abt a pancake 16mm f2.8...
![]() can't really wait for this combo. ![]() that will equate to 24mm as NEX has a sensor similar to my a700. isn't it? Edited by Aj700 - 19 April 2010 at 15:57 |

Gustav, don't worry, no one is every happy, but at least your comments were in good faith from a Sony source.
That is almost like a press release compared to what usually gets repeated on the internet as fact ![]() |

Yeah, Gustav, your still fine in my book.
I mean look at the sony Alpha rumors page. And the "all lenses made of chromium" bit. That's just laughable. I don't think poster of the rumor even as a clue what they are saying on that. Even if you adjust for possible mis translations it doesn't get better. Chromed lenses? no thanks. Chromium Steel lenses? No thanks, Stainless Steel? Well, that's a bit closer as alpha lens mounts tend to be stainless, but that's nothing to get that excited about. We know our lenses aren't Stainless Steel bodies, or Steel period. So either they totally have messed up, or Sony is having a lot of fun with them. But based on how they wrote it, I think the poster is oblivious to the Chromium nonsense. I would think even the folks who might not know much about metallurgy would at least wikipedia Chromium. |

rumour (n): gossip (usually a mixture of truth and untruth) passed around by word of mouth
I think the site does live up to its name, and we shouldn't expect any more or less of it. |

That site posts whatever they think will generate the most advert traffic, IMHO, there seems little relation to Sony's products!

If the 16mm 2.8 is true, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why release your only prime as a wide angle, rather than the more obvious 35mm or 50mm (equivalent) lens? Not to mention that the rumored zoom goes down to 18mm already.

16/2.8 is interesting but not necessarily bad choice - wide angle is cool. No body offers this wide prime fro EVIL cameras at present. I imagine it is nice for taking street shots. It is strange but will set the system apart from the competition.
In terms of classic 24 or 28 would be better choice than 35. 18-55 is kit lens - no more, no less |

They may very well be releasing a 16mm f/2.8 prime. But that does not mean, in any way shape or form, that there will NOT be other primes released along with it. ![]() |
