You can see it from the video here... the video looks same as the previous promotional video, but there is additional info about GUI there... you can also click the bottom one, and see the GUI screenshot. The concept seems like E-PL1, where you adjust on-screen slider for aperture. That's all

Concur on the slider.
You can see it at 34 seconds in. The slider makes the same arc a thumb would when swiping across the screen and holding the camera with your right hand. Also at 1:07 there looks like another thumb swipe slider that switches between aperture, program, scene, and a few other modes. |

I'm still wondering about the price of these cameras. They will have the an APS-C sensor, Alpha lenses, and video with control over depth of field...yet they are stripped down in some way that I am not seeing besides body size and shape. If I can get my hands on one of these for $200 or less, thats a great deal!

Slider looks pretty cool to me. Nice idea for a compact. I highly doubt that the price will be that low; most compacts sell for much higher than that

I am guessing $400 minimum, but it looks to be worth it, especially if we can use our lens collections

Is $400 at the same price point with A450?

Sure it is a great deal but hell would probably freeze over, before that happens. ![]() |

I think sony will price at what ever is about 100 bucks less than the competition or attractive enough to get the job done at time of launch.
EVIL cameras are in-herently cheap to make. But the market demand is what keeps price up. Oly and Panny knew for sure they could bank some cash one their first EVILs (primarily the retro ones). Of course there is some NRE that needs to be paid back, so higher prices help that. And the touch screens and whole new GUI aren't cheap to develop. I hope the control interface is fairly customizable. I can see it not being very one size fit all and give people issues. My big issues would be tactile feedback. If aperture is nothing but a slider, will with be driven nuts trying to get it where we want. Hopefully there will be up/down buttons at the ends of the slider. There is a very real chance they go too flashy/iPhone ish on the interface. |

Maybe we'll have the choice between using the four-way keypad and the touchscreen for adjusting things like aperture? I'd be ok with that.

Considering the GF1 with 20mm lens sells for north of $1,000 I don't see even $600 happening!
The EP-L1 is $600 but is a budget model unlike this Sony Alpha with a touchscreen n so on! My guess is hovering around the $800 mark at least. |

I hold out hope that Sony can get this right. From the little I've seen and read their implementation of touch screens and smart phones is one of the very best out there and a model for others to follow. With a bit of luck the same level of insight and innovation will (finally) make its way to the Alpha line-up.

Based on screenshots I learned:
So it has a f2.8 lens. It has Sony smile shutter technology ![]() It has SteadyShot. It can do RAW+JPEG. It has an onboard flash. Really shallow DOF with the video, it could have been shot on any number of high end Sony video cameras of course, but wonder if it was shot on the new Alpha with video? |
