Surely there are some sports shooters here, i couldn't find a thread for them though. I have heard a lot of people saying they need that f0.1 1200mm apo specifically for sports but not seen the results, please post em if you have em.

All with the 300/4 hasg on a700 plus monopod.

Incidently, if anyone can identify the F1 drivers it would be great :).

Shot 1 going from bottom left to top right, the guys with caps and the central blonde one:
1. Jarno Trulli, 2. Timo Glock, 3. Nico Rosberg (no cap)+4. Lewis Hamilton and the grumpy looking one with the big sunglasses, no. 5, is Nelson Piquet jr.
Shot 2. has Felipe Massa center stage, today's top qualifier in Valencia.
Shot 3. has Rubens Barichello and Giancarlo Fisichella sharing a moment with Fisico's team-mate Adrian Sutil wearing the red cap behind him and in the grey jacket and big black sunglasses behind Rubens, David Coulthard.
Shot 4's driver is David Coulthard,
Shot 6 appears to be Heiki Kovalainen driving (could be Lewis, need to check helmets), Shot 8 is Felipe Massa driving,
Shot 9 is Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso
And the last shot is again Kimi Raikkonen, the reigning world champion,

Some nice pans there and some near misses.
What focus setting do you use, AF-A or AF-S?

-edit- did the helmet check. Lewis' helmet is yellow, so #6 has Heike Kovalainen driving indeed.

Hockeyseason kicked off this weekend and I got a good opportunity to test my newly repaired 700 and 80-200 G.

Hockey or is it boxing, nice left hook for a hockey player

Wrestling or maybe judo

Just went to a soccer match of my friends with the CZ 16-80, and a like-panorama wing cross.
Can you see the ball?

On the long end of a Sigma 70-200 f4 lens.

Being a Judo coach means I can get close to the mat at small events.... this one taken with a 50mm f1.7

I found that sport photos do not attract so much attention as fashion ones or portraits. But you are right, when talking on F0.1 :D the light is the big issue. For the sport i use primarily 50/1.4, which is currently the only lens i own to handle indoors. Here is my contribution:

this one had been taken with 100-200/4.5 at the longer end

this all had been shot during taekwon-do ITF competitions

Love the umm... bonding shots of the hockey players
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing, as simply messing about in boats
