    Posted: 05 February 2023 at 13:48

So, the first challenge of 2023 will be one week celebrating the 65th birthday of the Minolta SR mount (sometimes also loosely referred to as the MC, MD or Rokkor mount). This is the ancestor of the later A- and E-mounts and many from us use these older "Rokkor" SR mount lenses via an adapter on E-mount cameras and there are also a few who managed a mount swap to A-mount. If you want to read more about the birth, history and different incarnations of this mount check out this article from the Rokkor Files. The idea for this challenge was offered by addy landzaat (see this thread) and is also honouring the request to have more one week challenges in addition to the monthly "one prime" ones in April and Oktober.

The challenge will run from Monday Februari 27 until Sunday March 5 and as always will have a talk, outtake and thumbnail thread.

Guidelines (added a few clarifications based on the questions asked):
- Only for lenses with a fixed SR mount or a SR "mount swap" to A-mount
- A- or E-mount camera's via a SR mount adapter or mount swap, or a SR mount film camera
- Pic-a-day is preferred
- in case weather or other restrictions prevent this we'll allow your photos to be taken anywhere in this week
- Maximum is only one photo per participant per daily thread, all others go in the outtakes
- Everybody is free to think of extra challenges they want to add to their contribution.

Ask any questions you have or your intention to take part below. I'll keep a running list of participants in this thread, obviously I'm in

So some clarification needed:

Are non SR-mount Minolta Rokkors included?

Are Minolta plain MD and Celtic lenses included?

Are third-party SR mount lenses included?

I have 2 to 8 lenses to use depending on those answers.

I'll probably stick to these unless I sell them before the event:

Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 58mm F1.4
Minolta MD Rokkor-X 45mm F2
Minolta MD 50mm F1.2
Minolta MD 135mm F3.5

All lenses based on the Minolta "SR-mount" can be used which correspond to the various MD/MC or (Auto) Rokkor lens style generations, but definitely M-mount Rokkors aren't supposed to be used for this challenge here!

I would say:

Only SR mount lenses, according to the list linked above this includes plain MD and Celtic Minolta's as well as others. Rokkor in the name is not a requirement, only having an SR mount is.

So logically third party SR mount lenses can be used, but if you have Minolta SR mount lenses these would be preferred (or used first).

M-mount Rokkor or other non-SR mount Minolta lenses should not be used for this challenge.

Me too! Not sure if I'm film or digital submissions (probably the latter), but I admire that set, Michel!

Welcome Matt, Mariusz, Addy, Michel and Howard. Your names are on the list now.

Beautiful SR2's Michel! Are you going to shoot film for the challenge?

Btw, shooting film for this challenge is perfectly OK with SR mount cameras. We'll wait patiently for development and scanning before setting up the voting thread for the inevitable exhibition after the challenge is completed.

It all started with my brother donating his Minolta double XG-M set. One XG-M was demolished to free the lens that was on it and would not 'dismount' (I believe the 50/1.7). It sort of escalated after that. Several cameras came in as collateral damage when I bought lenses.

I'll join with Pic-Day. I have to enlist 3 times . No, I'm not crazy, I'll rationalize and make a selection.

I look forward to this. I will likely shoot B&W with SR-mount cameras (SR-1, SRT-201 and X-370)

I will probably do 1 or 2 with an e-mount camera to add a little color.
