I was at Golden Gate Park and saw a statue I had probably seen but never noticed before. It was the "Star Spangled Banner" monument and I saw I had a "tofer" (2 4 1) or (two for one). 2 statues in 1, but it was a 4 picture statue in my mind. So here are the 4 pictures of it.

I need to explain; the "star Spangled Banner" is America's National Anthem song. it is played at ceremonies and many sports events, including all base ball games. The song was written by Francis Scott Key during a battle in our Revolutionary War. He is the male figure in the statue and Lady America is the one on top
It was a Beautiful day!

One note; the photos were all taken w Sony a6000, and the Rokinon 12mm prime wide angle, the figures are all crops of the 1st photo, which displays the sharpness of the Rok
These crops are better telephoto than I can get w my Sony 210mm zoom. The Rok has difficulty w CA and distortion on the edges but the sharpness is hard to beat.

Also I think I'm going to follow Miranda F and shoot in jpeg. When I set the a6000 on RAW & JPEG mode the jpeg is almost always a better picture. I like my photos to be pristine as possible and I just don't have the time to go into Photoshop. I'll stay IPhoto. I'd rather spend the time out there taking photographs

Oh; 1 more interesting statue from that day I thought I'd share. It is a sphinx, or actually 2 of them. They seem to be on guard at the De Young Museum.
The Egyptian sphinx's seem easy to look at, pleasant and have a serene after life glow to them. These sphinx I found disturbing, difficult to look at, which was probably the goal.

I should mention there are also statues of Johann Goethe and Friedrich Schiller, their double monument. The original I believe is today in Weimar. A Beethoven, a Giuseppe Verdi, and a Don Quixote among others, I hope to capture some day (So much wine so little time). I've seen this quote somewhere before

Having started this thread way It's a joy to see so many wonderful images and statues.
now for something a little bit different, somewhere in the Eland Valley, Wales.
Maybe our Welsh compatriots can find the site and translate the plaques
