Orford Castle ![]() 9. Down Only ![]() 10. Paddle Boarders At Orford Ness ![]() 11. Signs Of Old Moorings ![]() 12. Abandoned ![]() 13. Waiting its Fate ![]() 14. Almost Gone ![]() 14. Pulley head ![]() 15. Blue Decay ![]() 16. A very well executed series as usual Neil, and I like the diversity of subjects you captured. The shipwrecks remind me of some wrecks that Fred, Domien and I saw on Skye and driving through Scotland, with #13 "Waiting its Fate" as my absolute favourite.

Thank you, Pieter or those kind words. It wasn't hard to find the diversity of subjects - suffolk is like it's own small microcosm of the unusual or preserved and there is so much to see there. The other unique aspect to it is that the roads are not that well developed (by that I mean no 'quick' trunk roads or motorways) so you have to go at life more relaxed pace and just soak it all up as you do so. As for the wrecks - show me inland creeks such as these and you will always find an example of what was once someone's pride and joy quietly returning back to the water in something of a more formal manner!
Thanks again and best regards, Neil. |

Nice series, so I echo Pieters words.
But, Vendée? In Suffolk??? Or did you swim from the Vendée to Suffolk?? |

I think it's what might be termed 'a little English provincial town joke' Harm! It may have something to do with the practice of 'twinning' of even small villages for various reasons; the whole of Suffolk was home to many branches of both the UK and US armed forces during WWII and the association may have arisen from that. Or someone may just have stolen the road sign during a visit! Thanks and glad you liked this set. Best regards Neil, |

Neil, another lovely to look at set from this picturesque part of England. Lots of history, gentle decay, waterways, and a mellowness about it. I agree with Pieter about #13. Looking forward to more.

Bostin set, Neil, showcasing the rich architecture of this historically wealthy county. I'm intrigued by the ubiquitous half sunken decaying boats that are a feature of British coastal areas, somehow more acceptable and photogenic than abandoned cars and farm machinery.

Nice set of pictures. It's great to visit new places without being there (and then getting the urge to go visit "there" myself).

Hi Alan, I think 'We' (the British) have something of a unique position on these items compared to other countries? We also seem to have them in more photogenic locations than anywhere as well, so I guess the two go hand-in-hand. This location doesn't really 'rate' that highly - Orford Ness is too close in the background making for either a slightly cramped image if cropped, or a busy image if left in its natural state. Not exactly a win:win position! Thanks for the comment though and yes; the county is beautiful. Best regards, Neil. |
