Huntley Meadows in summertime. A great place for portraits. The subjects were cooperative.

Huntley Meadows, as I may have mentioned previously, is a wetland oasis in the middle of suburbia (Alexandria, Virginia). It's about ten miles from Washington, a few miles from the Potomac River. The road that leads to the park is Lockheed Boulevard (as in Lockheed Martin, one of the many contractors in the area that have streets named after them). At around 9AM, the children and parents arrive en masse, so the chirping noises of the early morning are replace by a different kind of noise.

The diffused lighting of the overcast day was quite helpful. Thanks for looking.

Winston,
How fortunate you are to have access to this bountiful nature reserve.
Love your beautifully taken and presented portraits - the bee, the swallow (#7) in particular.

Thanks for the comments. There is an osprey nest in the far distance, but I haven't seen too much activity there (although there is a breeding pair).
