Ok, I found this Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD that looks nice. I can live with the gap between 28-35mm.
Got some good reviews as well. |

I bought this lens too. In hand, the lens is certainly a weighty one and bulkier than what I had in mind. I wish they had gone with a constant f/2.8 and reduced the weight a bit. But overall, for many purposes, can function as a single lens solution. Still trying it out.

The f/2 on the wide end gives bragging rights, but makes is heavier I guess. Weight and size to me are reasons not going this route.

More than just bragging rights, I guess: for some uses, the narrower DOF an/or stop more light could be important. Relative to (other zooms' ) f/2.8 ... it's halfway to an f/1.4, after all! For other users, of course, the benefits won't be worth the size & weight. |
