This is the first time in Dyxum history that Day Prime needs a part 2!

Congrats Leo and thank you for all the work you made for us in part one.

I am sure part two will be good too.

           Rules the light waves.

Greetings Willem.

Day 115 is a special day for me because it is the first day I used my DIY Contaflex > NEX adapter.

There are not many 115 primes but the Zeiss Pro-Tessar 115/4 is one of them. Unfortunately it is a so-called 'convertible lens' which means that only the front element is exchangeable, and there are no adapters for such lenses.

So I decided to make my own adapter. If you're interested in the 'making of', have a look at my set on Flickr.

Here's a shot of the lens + adapter on the NEX:

And here are some photos I made with this combo today:

1 Blue bridge

2 Hanging heads

3 Winter storage is about to end

4 Wool man

5 Fritillary

6 Looks like a painting

7 Working in the greenhouse

8 Tulips

#2, 5, 6, 8 are wide open; the rest is with F5.6 - F11; further exif inside.

Thanks Peekayoh!

There are 4 other (Pro-) Tessar lenses for this Zeiss Ikon camera system(Contaflex Super, 1962): 35/3.2, 50/2.8, 85/3.2 and a 1:1 Macro.

Because there is no adapter, these are not very expensive, especially for Zeiss.

Thanks Shauna!

A few more from yesterday's trip:

9 Oil drum

For some reason I like this scene with that conspicuous oil drum and its reflection. Looking a bit closer I saw this:

10 The great crested grebe and the oil drum

She (he?) was on the nest but hid shyly behind it when I started making photos. You can see her in the first pic too. And some eggs in the nest.

And here's the man in the greenhouse again; I guess he didn't like me taking pictures.

11 Without words

12 Friends

I like these sheep. I think they are Herdwicks, a Lake District breed.

Lovely sharp rendering Leo, great textures and tones on those sheep!
Very nice bokeh too on the flower shots.

I`m in for part two, got 135mm x 6, they are so cheap and good quality like the 50`s. I have 180mm and 200mm and possibly a 150 depending on sales.

Thanks Macca!

I'm looking forward to your contributions on Days 135, 180 and 200. And hope to see you on Day 150 as well.

BTW:

Tomorrow is Tuesday April 30,
and that's:
DAY 120

I have no 120mm, but there must be a few out there; zoom ends possibly and primes in the realm of Medium Format?

And:

Sunday is May 5
and that's:
DAY 125

Again, I don't have one, but I would like to have the stellar Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 125mm f/2.5 SL Macro (available in A-mount too!). If you have one and want to part with it ...

I will be away on Dyxum business until May 7 so I may not be able to see all your great shots and comments until then but I wish you Happy Shooting (and Posting) on these Days!

I've been away from Dyxum for a bit ... my non-photography life has been busy. Great to see the continued energy for Day Prime. I'm up next at Day 135!

@Darosa - nice to see the inside of that greenhouse! And folks actually store their RVs in the greenhouses in the winter? Do they get even bigger in there? ... ;-)
