The Day Prime Challenge 2013

The challenge is to use as many of your lenses as possible in 2013

The idea of this challenge is inspired by Week 50, in which participants shoot with a 50mm lens for the 50th week of the year. The Day Prime Challenge is for people to post pictures taken on the appropriate day for their lens - hence shots with a 16mm taken on 16 January, 28mm on 28 January and so on (after January it becomes more difficult but we'll give you the dates). It is called a challenge, but it's very easy going:

Rules:

You can use any prime lens you like
You can use any zoom lens you like, but you can only use the zoom ends
Adapters and converters that change the FL of the lens are not allowed except for teleconverters for FLs of 200mm and more
You are free to use A-mount and E-mount cameras
You can post as many photos as you like on the the appropriate day
You can only post the photos that were taken on that day
Minimal cropping is allowed, but the photo should reflect the focal length of the lens
Have fun!

Further notes:
Please add EXIF data: camera used, lens used, aperture, exposure, iso
You don't have to sign up: just post your photos on the appropriate day
You can't drop out of this challenge: you decide on the days you want to participate: the challenge is to participate on as many days as you can
It would be nice if you post your better shots also in the Sample Images subforum

There are 3 threads in Day Prime Challenge:

one for the photos and the talk (commenting on each other's contributions is encouraged and appreciated)
one for the Thumbnails that all participants can (and are encouraged to) post of their photos linked to the posts containing big versions
and one for outtakes aka The Training Centre

This challenge is for everyone! Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it.
If you have not joined before and do not fully understand the guidelines, do not worry. Just start posting and ask as many questions as you want.

Here's a link to all days of 2013 and their day number: Day numbers 2013

So just to be clear, shots with my 70mm should be posted March 2nd?

(oops-- my math was wrong... I meant March 11)

Not quite Alec

2nd of March is the 61st day of the year and 11th March is the 70th.

So March 11th is the day to both shoot and post your 70mm shots

Well, when do I use my Vivitar 13/2.8?
At its own 13 januari or at 14 januari, just like the other (identical) Samyang 14mm lenses?

I would say January 13.
Let's stick to the 'official' FL.
I'll make a Day 13 for you Addy.

No pressure at all. We'll call it Addy's Day from now on.

I think I'm going to give this a shot again this year ... I made it for a few months, but then ran out of steam. I think I'll stick with just primes this year though. I was doing "zoom ends" too, but it just got overwhelming.

So, for January, I'll have a couple of chances -- Sony 16 E-mount, and Sony 28 A-mount.

Oh, and I have the Sigma 30mm E-mount too ... forgot about that relatively recent addition.

And here's a calendar to help with planning:

http://www.calendar-365.com/day-numbers/2013.html

(I may do my own personal Week 16mm, 28mm and 30mm now too (in addition to Week 50) since week #s are also listed in this calendar!)

I need to think about this challenge. Maybe I do one a week or so, is that possible?
I like down to earth photography. :)

It's easier than that Gert - just do the days for which you have the correct lens - as many or as few as you want - it's a really informal challenge, so just take part when you can.

Check out last years challenge for some examples

(ignore this next bit if it's too confusing:
Feb 3rd this year will be the 400th day of 2012 so 400mm lenses get their day then and added to the 2012 thread)

Yes it's easy to overdo it. Just primes will be excellent!
