The Day Prime Challenge 2015

The challenge is to use as many of your lenses as possible in 2015

The idea of this challenge is inspired by Week 50, in which participants shoot with a 50mm lens for the 50th week of the year. The Challenge of Day Prime is to post pictures taken on the appropriate day for the lens - hence shots with a 16mm taken on 16 January, 28mm on 28 January and so on (after January it becomes more difficult but see the next post). It is called a challenge, but it's very easy going:

Rules:

You can use any prime lens you like
You can use any zoom lens you like, but you can only use the zoom ends
Adapters and converters that change the FL of the lens are not allowed except for teleconverters for FLs of 200mm and more
You are free to use A-mount and E-mount cameras
You can post as many photos as you like on the the appropriate day
You can only post the photos that were taken on that day
Minimal cropping is allowed, but the photo should reflect the focal length of the lens
Have fun!

Further notes:
Please add EXIF data: camera used, lens used, aperture, exposure, iso
You don't have to sign up: just post your photos on the appropriate day
You can't drop out of this challenge: you decide on the days you want to participate: the challenge is to participate on as many days as you can
It would be nice if you post your better shots also in the Sample Images subforum (for A- and E-mount lenses) or go here for samples with non-native lenses

There are 3 threads in Day Prime Challenge:

- this thread is for photos and talk (commenting on each other's contributions is encouraged and appreciated)
- a thread for the Thumbnails that all participants can (and are encouraged to) post of their photos linked to the posts containing big versions
- and a thread for outtakes aka The Training Centre

This challenge is for everyone! Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it.
If you have not joined before and do not fully understand the guidelines, do not worry. Just start posting and ask as many questions as you want.

Here's a list of Day Prime Days in 2015.
It's a long list but more DPDs are always welcome so please let me know if I missed a day!

Please study the list carefully (don't forget your zoom ends like I always do ...) and make a note of the days you are going to participate.

The 'Page' column gives the page numbers where you can find the contributions of the Day Prime Day in question (look for the RED Day numbers).

I'm in but have a feeling that Leo will be the main contributor. He seems to have a lens for each day of the year. Have obtained a fair amount of (cheapish) M42 lenses to have more options and most importantly more days. And can we do 400 mm of the past year on day 35?

@ Chris: we have almost a whole year to make Day 360 happen! I don't have one atm and I'm a bit short of cash due to an unforseen acquisition that I hope will be of great use during the darker part of Day Prime.

@ Alec: Is that because the list gets longer or because your collection is growing?

@ Paul: A lens for each day of the year is the goal but that may be some time.
Looking forward to see your achievements with that 'fair amount of M42 lenses'!

I now have two 35/1.4s and a 58/1.2, none of which I had in 2014 (or at least in time for their appropriate day). I hope to have a 180 and another 135 sometime this year :)

So what will you do for sub 4mm days? Use a teeny-tiny lens designed for some very small format, or will they be 366mm, etc?

Ahh but do you know of a 360mm?,we need to find a 59mm to complete week 50 too!

That must have been an expensive acquisition....

I may be shooting wide macro early doors, my Nex is up for sale and I doubt I`ll have the funds for the A7 mark 2 in January, more likely February, it depends how sales go.I`m ebaying a variety of bits and bobs this weekend so you never know.

Day 360 can be an 180mm Macro with 2xTC, for instance... All Dutch dart-fans know that 2x180 is 360! (and 141 left for a nine-darter)
Quit a lot of ALPHA and NEX gear, a nice collection of Sigma lenses, Dynax and M42 stuff, Gitzo's, Visico's and lots of video-equipment

There are 360mm lenses. Most of them are medium or large format, but they're out there.

I got a €500 discount and it was still expensive but I couldn't resist that 500 'profit'. The new toy should arrive on Monday.

Like thornburg says, Day 360 is definitely possible.

Day 59 is more of a problem but I'm working on it. I have been on the lookout for a 59mm for quite some time and I now know such a lens exists! But getting one will take some time I fear.

You know, I find it amazing that a 4.5mm lens has a focusing scale, let alone HSM Autofocus...
