True. It's not a cheap lens and without these superfluous features it would be a bit cheaper.

That said, I don't like fixed focus lenses. I like to use such lenses wide open @ minimal focus distance. It's good to have a focus option then.

Google says there's a few projection zoom lenses that end at 59mm. No idea what size image circle, or how much they cost.

I didn't see anything else.

Could have started today with the 4.5mm Sigma and a Metabones Speed Booster making for 3mm.

And since the Sigma 50/1.4 MK1 really shoots at around 47/48mm, that might could account for an extra day.

I think the Mino 200/2.8 is really a 190mm. Plus any lens with considerable focus breathing for closeups might could be used twice, once close and another at infinity?

I know, pushing my luck here. Surrry.

I think we mostly stick with the printed focal length.

There's an exception for teleconverters at the long end of the calendar. I like the idea of a Speedbooster exception for the extremely short end of the calendar.

What about the front converters? They come in both wide- and tele- versions. Are they allowable? If so, when?

Last year we took both.

For those who don't know why this question is being asked, it's because the lens is printed as 70-210, but the shortest focal length displayed in EXIF is 75mm.

DAY 4

Here it is! The rarely-seen Sigma 4.5 f/2.8 DC HSM Circular Fisheye.

A77 + 4.5/2.8 @ ISO 100, f/4, 1/200th

As for the HSM and the focus scale, HSM is always nice to have. I'd rather have it then not have it, even if I hardly ever really need it. Regarding the focus scale/ring, I've gotten it to move significantly a few times, mostly when taking photos of the undersides/insides of flowers. Usually though, it never moves much past the infinity mark. For this picture, the faces are about 4 feet from the end of the lens, so it was focused right around infinity. A little superfluous to include it, but as always, nice to have, even if it's not really needed

Oh, and as far as price goes, the MSRP is something like US$800-1000, IIRC. I snagged it off of KEH.com for $499.99 in LN- condition, but it's brand new. When I opened the package from KEH, It had the original box, it was still in the plastic and inside the molded shell that holds it safely in the box, it has all the paperwork, warranty cards, both caps, and the adapter ring for the front. Quite the steal, and an excellent addition to my kit. It really allows some unique perspectives and very interesting shots.

The start of Day Prime is a very fishy affair. The first days belong to the realm of the Fish-eye.

Tomorrow is Wednesday January 7, so it's:

DAY 7

Excellent Day for that rare beast, the Rokkor Fish 7,5/4!

And Thursday is

DAY 8

with more fish on the menu: Samyang/Rokinon/... 8/3.5 or 8/2.8.

Yep, I'm in with my Samyang 8mm/3.5 (A mount but on A6000 with LAE1)

Last year, I tried to get a pic of our pet rabbits at every focal length (with day 400 still to come....)   I think this year I need a different theme. I don't have long to have an idea though.   My first thought was to get a pic with my hand in for each day but I have no idea how that will pan out

Leo - last year, I seem to recall seeing a list of dates for each common focal length. I don't suppose you have made a similar list for 2015?

I'm hoping for:
8, 12, 16, 18, 24, 30, 35 (A new one for me!), 50, 55, 70, 90, 105, 135, 180 (=90x2tc which I like to use) 200, 280(TC), 400 (actual and also 200x2) and possibly 400x1.4=560 and 800. Those last two seem a long way off....

There's a list with "all" the dates at the beginning of the thread.

Technically, it's missing some possible ones, but we aren't aware of anyone here with a lens to cover them.

@ Mike: glad you found The List . Looking forward to your Day 8. I wish you a lot of creativity: the rabbit theme will be hard to beat; I was/am a big fan of that couple.

Additions to the list are always welcome, bearing in mind, as you said, we mostly stick with the printed focal length.
