So you would prefer a boring dull Alpha 7 generation 1513 stardate 96352.33? (Canon does something alike right? BOring

Just let them be creative with the current numbering! I would like that anyways... I don't like Sony being a Canon clone!
Is A77 truely going to be 77? or was that our imagination?

Minolta / Dynax / Sony Alpha / NEX
A creative mind.

Now seriously if the a77 doesn't have 24p, neither does the VG20(?) then I'm saying goodbye to Sony.
I mean I want some fairly good video quality (like on the d7000 which is excellent!). I know people will say that the a77 isn't a video camera. But the VG20 isn't!

Just my two cents about the video issue.

Pretty sure A700 successors will not be linear like this. Somewhere down the line Sony will have to put up some competition. There is a generation of customers without Minolta DNA ahead.

in Europe it will almost certainly be 25P instead of 30P - not a massive difference to 24P.

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that!
Well, I have to wait and see then, I'm in no hurry.

I never understood the call for 24p by consumer users.
No pro will ever care about it.
Every mediocre video-cut software can handle any input format to and put out any wanted output format.

In still Photography you will always have some people working with out-of-the-camera jpeg files.
But in video you never have that.
Video people are more arguing about output file type and compression rates than input.

Just had a thought. If (they will, right?) they release a VCG for the a77 it would be nice if it was more L-plate friendly.

Well I've shot video at 50 fps, 60, and 30 and then I shot at 24, and the difference is huge.

Hmm, I think that weird things happen when you try to convert from one frame-rate to another, say 30p to 24p. The image can be jumpy, or seem to move faster or slower than it should. Having native 24p input when that is the intended output is definitely the best option. Though, I do agree that 24p is a little dated and that everything should be filmed at a higher frame-rates because they make the image so much smoother.

Yes difference is huge 24 sucks!!! I absolutely do not care for 24p as I will "almost never" print to a film. For every other media higher frame rate is better ...

My 0.02

If these photos are for real then it looks smaller than the A700, more like the A100 size.

Awesome!!!!!

Is it just me, or is this looking a lot like Ca*on in shape?
