7D -> a700 - a850 - a99-ii

Samyang 14
Min 20
Min 24
Min 35/2
Sony 50
Min 85 GD
Min 200 HS (plus Sony TC 1,4)
Min 28-135

Don't see any good response why I should switch to E-mount. Weight is however important, so I combine a few primes and take what I need most. Due to their weight I don't feel tempted by CZ-lenses. DxO-measurements don't mean much to me as long as I can produce sharp pictures 50x75cm or 60x90cm. The a850 gave more than enough resolution, a99-ii gives me more artistic freedom.

I’ve made a few tweaks from two years ago. I no longer have an a700 or a900. I still don't have any E-mount lenses. Getting an APS-C camera prompted the decision to pick up the Sony 16-50mm f2.8 and 55-300mm f4.5-5.6 DT lenses

I have a pile of lenses, most of which are cheapo Minolta zooms bought more out of curiosity than any real photographic reason. Few of them get much use.

My go to lenses are a mix, reflecting my use of APS-C (A77 & A58) as well as FF (A900). ** indicates frequent use, * shows less frequent use.

Primes (all get occasional use)
Minolta 20mm f2.8

Minolta 80-200xi
Minolta 100-200 f4.5*
Minolta 100-300 f4.5-5.6
Sigma 170-500*

I also have TCs and a number of old bodies (5D, A100, A350, A390).

In general I use the A900 with primes, the A77 with the 16-50 SSM or a prime (with the 18-55 SAM II in my pocket) and the A58 with the Tamron 16-300 on tourist jaunts. The Sigma 10-20 & 170-500 cover very occasional needs to stray outside my normal range.

Recently changed over to predominately A mount, previously was shooting with a NEX-6 with Sigma Primes and adapted Nikon Series E, alongside a Nikon D7000 with a 55-300mm.

New lineup
Sony A7R with LA-E4 full frame main camera
Sony A68 APS-C fast action and telephoto camera.
Minolta 7000 35mm film

The A-mount lenses
Minolta 28mm /f2.8
Minolta 50mm /f1.7
Konica Minolta 17-35mm f/2.8-4
Minolta 28-70mm f/2.8 G
Minolta 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5
Minolta 70-210mm /f4 "Beer Can"
Sony 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G SSM
Kenko extension tube set

The only new item above was the LA-E4 the rest are all used.

I did own the Sony/Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS for a couple of weeks but quickly changed tack from FE to A mount and traded it in.

Other lenses
Adapted Nikon E Series 50mm f/1.8, 100mm f/2.8 and 75-150mm f/3.5 zoom
De-baffled Sigma 19mm,30mm and 60mm f/2.8 E mount primes.

Been using A mount since the early 90’s when I picked up a Minolta AF 7000 (which I still have). Also have a 600si classic which I used a lot and it’s now dead. Still use a 800si when I want to use film.

Happily still using my Dynax 7D which I purchased new, the only piece of photography kit I’ve ever purchased new. It has the first frame black issue but just turn it off and on again a couple of times and it’s good to go.

Main camera is an a850.

Zooms

Sigma 17-35 f2.8-4
Tokina 28-80 f2.8 ATX pro
Tokina 80-200 f2.8 ATX pro
Minolta 28-85 f3.5-4.5, kit lens with my Minolta 7000

Zeiss primes

Lucky to have the full set so,

ZA 24 f2
ZA 50 f1.4
ZA 85 f1.4
ZA 135 f1.8

G primes

Sony 35 f1.4
Minolta 85 f1.4 (rs)

The f2’s

Again lucky to have the set so,

Minolta 28 f2
Minolta 35 f2
Minolta 100 f2

The rest

Minolta 20 f2.8
Minolta 50 f1.7 (have 2 of these little gems)
Minolta 135 f2.8
Sigma 300 f4 tele apo macro
Set of extension tubes

Good to see that the old minolta lenses are still in use.

Cameras
Sony A700
Sony A77 (most in use)
Minolta Dynax 800si (not in use anymore)

Lenses
Minolta 50mm/f2.8 macro
Minolta 100mm/f2.8 macro
Minolta 50mm/f1.4
Minolta 24-50mm/f4.0
Minolta 400mm/f4.5
Sony 1.4x converter (doesn't fit on the Sigma tele's)
Sony 16-80mm/f3.5-4.5
Tamron 70-210mm/f2.8
Sigma 10-20mm/f4.5-5.6
Sigma 12-24mm/f4.5-5.6
Sigma 70-300mm/f4.0-5.6
Sigma 300mm/f2.8
Sigma 500mm/f4.5
Sigma 1.4x converter (bought this week second hand for €75)

Flashes
Minolta 5600HS
Sony HVL 58AM

Recently sold
Sigma 18mm/f4.0
Novoflex pigriff + Leitz 560mm/f6.8

A lot of overlap. Thinking about selling some stuff, would make my wife happy!
I am concentrating on bird photography, so I keep the tele's.
I am not thinking about changing to E-mount, though I get a bit jealous when I see the results of the new Sony A7Riv in combination with the 200-600mm.
Bought my wife a Sony RX10miv and sometimes I am allowed to use it too

I have trimmed my A-mount kit by selling anything APS-C and picking up a 24-70 to replace the 16-50 last year. I'm under 10 A-mount lenses for the first time in years:

Bodies:
Sony A99II with VG
Sony A7 w/ LA-EA4

Zooms:
Sony 24-70/2.8 ZA
Minolta 28-105 RS (backup/light travel)
Minolta 80-200/2.8 HS G
Sony 70-300G1
Sony 70-400G1
Minolta 100-300 APO D (backup/light travel)

Primes:
Minolta 20/2.8 RS
Sony 50/1.4
Minolta 100/2.8 RS Macro

I think that this will be my final A-mount kit and should serve me well for the next 5+ years. Technology has reached a level where the camera doesn't get in my way and progress has slowed down, so no need for me to upgrade or switch anytime soon. I also have the Sony FE 24-70/4 ZA OSS for travel with the A7 and a number of old Minolta SR lenses from the 16 to 200mm for slow projects.

Good collection Lee. You have me beat by a bit; however, I feel you need Minolta prime 200 and 300mm F2.8 lenses!

I've been lusting after a Minolta AF 300 f/4 HS APO G but can't really justify the expense or the pain in my back.
