I voted "I use dumb adapters plus A mount smart adapters with EXIF".
I mostly use the Voigtlander M-E close up adapter (I use it much more than I use native E mount lenses...), but I also use the LA-EA3 and LA-EA4 adapters (I prefer the 3, but use the 4 for non-SSM lenses). In addition, I have large collection of dumb adapters: dumb A-E (used when using old lenses which were adapted to A-mount), MD-E, MD-E with tilt option, few M-E with helicoid, few M-E without helicoid, NIKON F-E, M39-E, M42-E, Pentacon Six-E, Mamya RB67-E and maybe more that I don't remember right now... It is fun adapting lenses to E-mount... ![]() |

I do not use any adapter. All my lenses, about 4 years now, are native e-mount aps-c lenses: 3 primes 20/2,8 + 24/1,8Z + 56/1,4 and suitalbe for me 18-135OSS.
If about something special I do not know jet, my first look is surely A-mount and then A/E-mount adapter. |

LA-EA1 and LA-EA2 for A-mount on the Nex-6.
Lots of M42 and PK mount dumb adapters for use with various MF lenses. I've been gradually stocking up in native E-mount MF lenses and using adapters less and less, but the little Miranda (pentax) primes are so nice and small they're fun to use. I have a so-called 'speed booster' for A-mount which widens the view angle (a bit) and hardly boosts the speed at all (1/3 stop typical) but don't use it any more. Something else to sell ... |

MD and OM wholly mechanical adapters (prefer that term before 'dumb'..they don't have a low amount of "thinking" power, they have none) and the MC11, still going strong (receiving fw updates). 1.27 from 1.12 made the EF 35/2 af a little surer on my A7rii.
Anyways, I'm rather glad we live in just a right slice of time to be able to utilize older (or sideways) lenses in a great way! |

I only have ONE EF lens, the Canon 17mm F4 L TS-E (tilt-shift). It doesn't get used much, but I will never part with it

A LA-EA4 for fixed focus minolta lenses 50/1.4 and 100/2.8.
A Metabones for Canon EF 16-35/4 IS and 70-200/4 IS USM. Edit: I sold the Canon 16-35 in favour of the Sony 16-35/4. I bought a secondhand Canon 300/4 with 1.4x converter. I use both adapters and lenses on an A7II and a 6000. Edited by leohendriks - 08 July 2022 at 20:11 |

I shoot with a very wide variety of dumb adapters, including models with focal reducers, helicoids, tilt, shift, aperture linkages & the Techart pro (giving AF to manual lenses). Some of these are MFT adapters fitted via a MFT to e-mount adapter.
For my first 6 months of using e-mount I didn't have a single native lens. I now have two but have added a full spectrum modified A7ii to my initial Nex6. |

I have the LA-EA3 & 4 for all my A mount glass, but am considering if it's worth getting the EA5.
I'll do a separate post, but does anyone know whether there is an advantage of the EA4 over the 5 when using with my A7M3 for SSM & SAM lenses BUT most of all with my Tamron 150-600 G2? |

Don't think the LA-EA5 currently offers anything the LA-EA3 doesn't on the A7M3. Might be an appropriate firmware update, I guess.
Edit: I meant a future update, but I don't know whether that is possible. Edited by Miranda F - 01 February 2021 at 13:11 |
