Howard, a powerful although rather bleak looking image. Reminds me a bit of a frame from a gritty David Lean Dickensian themed movie.
I wonder about these treeless vistas. Is it a natural thing due to altitude, or because all the trees were felled over the centuries for building and fuel?

Thanks very much, Joe. St David's Head is an exposed and rocky headland; here we are not more than 50m above sea level. Perhaps in prehistoric times there was denser vegetation, and ancient settlements and field systems have been found nearby. FYI I was here, on the green dotted path on the south side of the headland.

I channelled my inner Bill Brandt for this one (there's a nod to the coal-searcher photo here), but of course it's nowhere near as striking - and there's no coal to search for out at St Davids Head!
