Yes, it is. See post from matthiaspaul - second post on the first page.

Some more:
Maxxum 9 TI #0089
Alpha 9 TI   #0196
Alpha 9 TI   #0274
Alpha 9 TI   #0064 (sorry, lost the link)
Dynax 9 TI   #0001 - unfortunately the pictures don't show the serial number

de0602,

Thanks for this reply. I read the post you mentioned on the first page. It talks about 8 digit serial numbers, but I did not see anything about cameras with missing "Maxxum 9" or "Dynax 9" or "a 9" names, and missing "Ti" names.   The listed item on the auction site is missing the names on the front of the camera.

The earlier listing was ended, then relisted by the seller with 2 listings at 2 different (very high) prices. Is this normal on the auction site?

Hi WilmarcoImaging,

I can only speculate on this but based on the comment that those may be assembled from spare parts, I would assume that they had some outer shells as replacement parts which had not been marked with specific names yet.

With regards to the listing: This is strange and I had a look at his other stuff and it is way overpriced, too. I can't tell for sure but something is fishy there so I would stay away from this seller for now (maybe the account has been hacked).

3 Alpha 9 TI's:
#0381 (a little hard to read but I think it is 0381 and not 0387)
#0035
#0252

Yep. It is also on yahoo auctions. The same seller is also selling another SSM capable a9 Ti on yahoo auctions w/ the serial number of #0547.

They are in decent enough condition but are JUST the bodies. No cool collector case or strap. I would probably end up buying one even for that ridiculous price if it came with just the strap. Really want an SSM capable a9.

Alpha 9 TI: #0048

By now my guess on the numbering logic is that the serial number is according to when a pre-order was received. At least until about #0356. Afterwards it looks like it could have been blocks for dynax, alpha and maxxum. Though there is not enough data yet to be sure.
