No, I'll be setting off to Vienna by train, visiting London, Paris and Salzburg on the way. It's a social and family trip, seeing friends in London, my wife's aunt in Paris and eventually Vienna, home city of my late mother-in-law where we'll be joined by our daughter who lives in Spain. I have the reverse black/green feelings regarding the 9F! All were in freight engine black without names, apart from Evening Star which received special treatment for being the last BR steam locomotive to be built. Glad you also liked the set, Pieter. |

"B10" Oamaru New Zealand. They trundle this out most Sundays and give it a run.

Hi Alan.
Some great photos in that set. The large prairies are one of my favourites but sad to see it in BR black. GWR green suits them so much better. I like the 9F too, such intimidating engines. I'm always fascinated by the tiny driving wheels and the flangeless centre set. The little 0-4-2 is great too. Did they have an autocoach there with it? I've sadly never seen an autocoach run with a 14##, each time I've seen them they've been coupled to 0-6-0 tanks. It would be great to see the true pair one day. Are you planning a trip to the WSR for their spring steam gala the weekend after next? The theme Is the railways of South Wales in the 60's and there are some good guest engines appearing with 70000 Brittania being the main attraction. I'm hoping to get there with Dad on the Thursday if all goes to plan. It should be a great weekend. |

In 2012 after months of tests I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. I was 46 and suddenly life made sense. I don't mean to offend with my comments so please tell me if I do so I can put it right.

Great set Alan, you must have been happy to be back from Iceland to catch this event . The first is a spectacular sight (I regret not having sound with this picture) and 3 is a lovely view on a train underway. Also like your inside the carriage shots.

Very nice pictures, West! I especially like the snow images which seem very well exposed for my taste!

A few from the Llangollen Railway "Steel Steam and Stars" gala, the fourth is a series to raise money for a new build locomotive.. It was a cold gloomy wet day but I enjoyed riding on the trains and came away with a few photos.
Time for refreshments! Weary travellers |
