Well, there's a time and place for a rough-and-tough realistic and gritty pic as well as a high gloss, air brushed and edited-to-the-death pics.
One doesn't automatically denigrate the other.

Ouch!! I feel for you.
Sounds like he is very quickly becoming an Ex buddy.
But I would have thought that if he was that picky about his sartorial correctness,
then he needs to pay attention to how he dresses, not the photographer.
Perhaps you need to introduce him to a few construction sites.

that "friend" of mine got back to me this morning and turns out he's totally anal and uptight about details. While he complimented me for the photos, but he's picking apart the pictures about how his tie wasn't right (wasn't at the "apex" or something), his belt shouldn't have been showing and this... and that...

Spot on exposure and well lit.
The only nit pick is that the background is distracting a bit with the strong light.

thanks.

actually, I took a couple shots with him positioned so he was blocking that back light but then the lights in the hallway were hovering over/around the top of his head and I didn't cared for that either, so I decided to go with this shot. I DID lower the highlights in Lightroom to make it less distracting but apparently it's still strong enough to be pointed out
