As I guess/understand it, the MD 75-200/4.5 is a predecessor to the venerable 70-210/4 beercan. I know there's been some discussion about the 75-200 on the forum before, and later I may try to lookup stats on the lens and post them here (but not tonight). Some samples... This might have been wide open or might have been f/5. And I can't remember whether I remembered to take the junk UV filter off before shooting. Taken with a Nex 5N and Fotasy MD-E adapter. "Unsharpened" crop (Lr sharpening at 0) - bearing in mind a shutter speed of 1/125 at what I think was 200mm, and there may have been a crummy filter on the lens as well. Foggy day, too. All things considered, I think it performs well... I hope to share more samples in the future. Edited by Micholand - 11 January 2016 at 18:38 |

I've recently got hold of both the Minolta MD 75-200 f4.5 and 70-210 f4. Both lenses are in excellent condition and were very cheap on eBay. I've tried them both on my Sony A7R and I think with my two samples the 75-200 f4.5 is slightly sharper. I'll post some samples later.

An image from the MD 75-200mm and MD 70-210mm. Both of these have clip on metal hoods and like most MD lenses are a 55mm filter size. My main interest is in landscapes, I was curious to see just how well these old Minolta MD lenses would work on the full frame Sony A7R. I love the build quality of these old manual focus lenses. The real star from the Minolta MD zoom range is the MD 35-70mm f3.5 Macro. And the MD series look good also on the A7 cameras. Shot at ISO 500 to maintain high shutter speeds. The adapters I use and find to be an excellent fit I get from eBay, so cheap that I prefer to buy one per lens and leave it attached. I found the tolerances on these to be better than a much more expensive one from Fotodiox that I also have
MD-NEX adapters from Ebay that I find are very good My Flickr Photostream Edited by jeep - 21 January 2016 at 21:52 |

I bought this lens for € 15 and suprised by the quality of this lens, I made some photos in quite dark conditions with ISO 3200.
All photos are made with the Sony A6000 and a nameless adapter. wildflowers by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr Nulbos by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr Nulweg by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr Nulweg by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr Nulbos by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr fern by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr flower by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr surrounded by green by Jos Mecklenfeld, on Flickr |
