Florida Birds 1

We just returned from Florida and I am going to post a series of photos from the trip. The birds range from beautiful to downright ugly. I'm going to post the ugly birds first to get those out of the way.

Most of the pictures were taken taken with the A9 and FE 100-400 zoom +/- the 1.4X telextender. This is a fantastic (and fantastically expensive) combination for nature photography.

Roseate Spoonbills - actually beautiful in flight but not so wonderful close up.

White Ibis

Immature Wood Stork - they get even uglier as they mature

Anhinga in Flight - not great pictures of a not so pretty bird but the aerodynamics are interesting

Looks like they are doing fine Bob!

Welcome Swallow encounter, both welcoming and not so welcoming. Shame the light was low and I couldn't get enough shutter speed to fully freeze the motion.

The male is too busy chasing Boat tailed Grackles out of the area even though they have no interest in the nest. The female spends one minute feeding and three minutes finding food. No time to worry about me!.
Agree, hope they all make it. They have 10 or 12 days left in the nest.

Cheers.

@Stevo: Can't overlook the good ole Bin Chicken! Had an Azure in a well lit spot but as I tried getting closer I found a nice big Redbelly catching some sun right between me and the bird = nope on trying to step over it!
