I just noticed that's the strap that came with my α99ii shows α99 not α99II. The strap for my α77ii is marked α77II, and my other Sony straps don't mention any model.

On one level it doesn't matter because I don't use any of my Sony straps, but it does strike me as odd. Other α99ii users, do you have the correct strap?

I think I had the same if memory serves, but I think the strap is in the box in the loft, and it's too hot to go up there to check!
Like you, I prefer to use other straps.

Unboxing videos seem to confirm it, e. g. https://youtu.be/WA9GiPVnwdg

Just checked mine - it's just A99, no II. Guess Sony decided to save however much it cost to include the II. Probably kept the whole company solvent the last couple of years.

If that's what Sony need to do to be able to sell me my α99ii at an affordable price, then I'll accept that and say thanks. The cost-saving strap can be returned to the packaging now.

TBH, I do not understand why camera makers make camera specific straps. I have a Minolta strap on my A900, a A77m2 strap on my A99m2 - most cameras I use without strap and when I need one, I simple get the one that is convenient.

Why not a plain Sony strap like in the film days? Much cheaper then camera model specific ones.

The a99 strap has “Translucent Mirror technology” printed under the a99 name, while the strap for the a99ii only shows a99.
