So, from the previous thread we descended down the Navajo trail and we find ourselves with a decision to make; either continue on that trail and return to the rim via Wall Street (deep set pathway between the hoodoos); turn left and return to the rim via the Queens Garden Trail or, be brave and go on and undertake the Peekaboo Trail. Well, it was still early in the morning, relatively cool (still below 90F...) and we had plenty of water and snacks with us so, taking a deep breath, off we went to walk the Peekaboo Trail. I hope you enjoy this fascinating trail as much as we did at the time:

1. How Hoodoos Die....

2. All Forms of Delicate

3. Sidelit Hoodoos

4. Up Amongst The Spires

5. One Of Many Lonesome Pines

6. Are Hoodoos Translucent...?

7. Halfway Round

8. Wall of Windows

9. The Leaning Tree

10. Slope and Spire

11. Furnace On Full Heat

12. Wall of Window Detail

13. Through The Round Window

14. Lonesome Pine's Brother

15. Hoodoo Frenzy

This brings us pretty much to the end of the Peekaboo Trail Loop - if anyone is tempted to do this then please, don't hesitate. it gives you a fascinating view of the area with a little effort and viewpoints that would otherwise be impossible to see from anywhere else. The advice is also to do this in a clock-wise direction - I'd definitely agree with that as some of the ascends if done the other way round would be a little more strenuous (especially in the heat we experienced!).

I hope you enjoyed this loop and apologies for the length (but this is a seriously reduced number of images if I'm honest!). thanks for taking the time to look and comments, as always, are very welcome.

Best regards, Neil.

O man, i envy you a lot for these. This area is on my wishlist, i can only imagine how it looks in real life. You captured the impression well, also the dark blue skies helped here. TFS Neil .

We armchair tourists are continuing this most enjoyable visual treat via your images, Neil.

Wonderful forces of nature at work to sculpt these amazing landscapes, and as I've said previously it all looks quite crumbly and fragile. Apart from the natural decay as shown in your first image, I have seen on line that there are occasional sudden collapses of gravity defying columns and structures.

Of this set the ones that really stand out for me are #3, #6 and #11, having the most dramatic lighting effects.
You've managed to capture the challenging conditions very well.

Looking forward to more...
