Ok, I received my email advising of the special (ends today) on this upgrade. They offer various packages, support for all camera makes with or without styles, support for all Sony makes with or without styles, purchase or subscribe.

I, personally, am not into styles, so I went with Sony support, and, for less than $120, decided I would treat myself to a new RAW developer.

I had played with previous free versions of this application, but never really gave it a serious go.

For a year or more, now, I have been touting darktable for its powerful RAW file local editing ability, but have always been disappointed with the faithfulness of where it starts for me on any given photo in comparison to the JPEG preview that my cameras provide. If I don't view the comparison, I still love the interface, the many features, and that powerful set of localized editing tools.

The Capture One interface is different than other RAW editors, but, for me at least, not that difficult to master, and it, too, is quite powerful in the area of localized edits.

I have never used the DAM features of any of these applications, so cannot comment on those.

I am deriving much pleasure as I become more acquainted with this application, although there are almost no lens correction profiles available for my collection of older Minolta glass.

I would be curious to hear from others who are trying out this new version.

Best,

Caruso

I am surprised that there have been no responses here. There must be users of this application at Dyxum, yes?

I just upgraded to the new version from 10 a month ago. The only thing I've noticed is that the UI elements are bigger. I assume they've updated the UI to support higher resolution screens. I do want to get one of those eventually.

It still crashes just as often for me, but that is probably just a problem with my PC.

I haven't used other raw developers. I have an old copy of Adobe Creative Suite installed, but I don't use it much.

It seems like they stopped adding lens profiles. My Samyang AF FE lenses aren't supported.

I'm still on version 10, works fine for my needs. I do 98%+ in Lightroom and have all my images in there since the DAM features (keywording, searching, collections, flagging, metadata filters etc. etc.) are lightyears ahead of C1. Only for some specific colours C1 yields better results (mainly bright reds and yellows), but from my >10.000 posted images only about 200 were done in C1 and all the rest in Lightroom.

So I didn't see the need to upgrade to a later version since it seems mainly in the UI and some advanced features. But the basic raw converter and colour controls, which are the one I need/use, didn't change much.
Mind the bandwidth of others, don't link pictures larger then 1024 wide or 960 pix high, see here

QuietOC:
A while ago Capture One was unstable for me. I deactivated the hardware acceleration (see in the 1st page of Preferences).
Might do nothing in your case but who knows...

Having a UHD screen I do appreciate the new interface.
See my webpage!
A-mount stuff, and few 43 stuff.

Aside: I'm using CaptureOne 12 Pro (for Sony) on an older but robust PC with hardware acceleration enabled without any crashing.

Can you use the camera's built-in lens corrections? Most of my lenses are covered in Pro 12 so I've disabled the camera's built-in lens correction function and use the corrections in Pro 12 (don't want to apply lens corrections twice).

I'v recently purchased Pro 12 for Sony and I like it. I've also recently remembered to perform camera calibrations using ColorChecker Passport v.2 and apply the camera calibrations and very few base adjustments as a Style during import.

I've also created Styles based on lens used for after the import: Base Style + Curves, Sharp, and Saturation.

Using this method and going back through previous raw images I'm happy with the image quality: color, punch, saturation, detail, etc.

It took longer to export/resize and link here than to adjust the raw image to what I'm happy with...
