Thanks, I appreciate the information since I was hoping with a software upgrade it will work because my a6600 did not work with the LA-EA5 out of the store, but when I upgraded the software to the next one available, it started working like a charm with my Minolta 100mm f2.
The funny thing about my a7R111A is that I have the Metabones Fifth Gen. EF and my 100-400mm II works fine but my 11-24mm EF does not. Thanks again for the information. |

None of the A7III series cameras support screw-drive AF with the LA-EA5. The A version of the A7RIII did not get it. Neither did the A7C. The A7RIV (with or without -A) is the oldest A7 model to support screw-drive AF with the LA-EA5. Since my last post in this thread, I bought a semi-fancy dumb A-mount to E-mount adapter with a clicked manual aperture control since the LA-EAs don't provide for stopped down focusing. I have the LA-EA5 and my a7R11 did not work with my screw drive Minolta lenses so I traded it in and got the a7R111A and the same problem, it just doesn't work.
I have the a7IV and the a6600 that work perfect with the adapter and the lenses, but I am at a loss regarding the a7R111A. |

I purchased a Nikon F3 at a thrift store two years ago, which led to buying a Nikon D3300 used at a pawn shop.
Last week I purchased a used K & F Concept F to E adaptor for my Nikon F mount lenses. During last weekend's Procam store dealer event, I ordered a Sony LA E5 adaptor so I can use all the Minolta A mount prime lenses I acquired last year. The Sony rep claimed he expedited the adaptor. Hopefully he did so, as I am looking forward to trying them with my Sony prior to film. |

I now have the LA-EA3 and 4 as well as the 1 and 2. I tend to leave them on the lenses I use most.
LA-EA1 - Sony 55-200mm or 55-300mm on A6300 LA-EA2 - Minolta 50mm f2.8 macro (or f1.7 prime*) on A6300 LA-EA3 - Tamron 28-300mm for A7R11 (it's the only SSM A-mount lens I have) LA-EA4 - actually, I use this on a lot of lenses with the A7R11, eg: - Minolta 135mm f2.8, - Minolta 100-300mm APO - Minolta 500mm Reflex, or - Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro *Usually at Christmas because it has by far the best bokeh circles. |

I just have the LA-EA3 now, which is sort of permanently mounted to the 135/2.8 T4.5 STF lens.
It's the only A-mount lens I have left (and I still really like it), but of course, only works in manual mode. So the LA-EA3 is ideal for it. |

I've two dumb adapters, Nikon-F and µ43. These bring my 5τ telephoto on the cheap from Nikon, plus my TTartisan 35/1.4 can play in both my systems. Still watching for word on that TTart 17mm... .. .

Thanks Anthony & Matthew>
I did decide to get the AE5, especially being at 1/2 price, just fro future proofing any future E mount buys ( not for a while though)and in case Sony do decide on any updates. I'll decide whether to sell the AE3 at a tempting price, or keep it as a back up. I'll try and do some comparisons with the Tamron when the 5 arrives. |

Don't think the LA-EA5 currently offers anything the LA-EA3 doesn't on the A7M3. Might be an appropriate firmware update, I guess.
Edit: I meant a future update, but I don't know whether that is possible. Edited by Miranda F - 01 February 2021 at 13:11 |
