I now have the LA-EA3 and 4 as well as the 1 and 2. I tend to leave them on the lenses I use most.
LA-EA1 - Sony 55-200mm or 55-300mm on A6300
LA-EA2 - Minolta 50mm f2.8 macro (or f1.7 prime*) on A6300
LA-EA3 - Tamron 28-300mm for A7R11 (it's the only SSM A-mount lens I have)
LA-EA4 - actually, I use this on a lot of lenses with the A7R11, eg:
- Minolta 135mm f2.8,
- Minolta 100-300mm APO
- Minolta 500mm Reflex, or
- Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro

*Usually at Christmas because it has by far the best bokeh circles.
Miranda F & Sensorex, Sony A7Rii, A58, Nex-6, Dynax 4, 5, 60, 500si/600si/700si/800si, various Sony & Minolta lenses, several Tamrons, lots of MF primes and *far* too many old film cameras ...

I just have the LA-EA3 now, which is sort of permanently mounted to the 135/2.8 T4.5 STF lens.
It's the only A-mount lens I have left (and I still really like it), but of course, only works in manual mode. So the LA-EA3 is ideal for it.

I've two dumb adapters, Nikon-F and µ43. These bring my 5τ telephoto on the cheap from Nikon, plus my TTartisan 35/1.4 can play in both my systems. Still watching for word on that TTart 17mm... .. .

Thank you! Did you test it yourself? It was my expectation, but I could find no information on it.

Thanks Anthony & Matthew>
I did decide to get the AE5, especially being at 1/2 price, just fro future proofing any future E mount buys ( not for a while though)and in case Sony do decide on any updates. I'll decide whether to sell the AE3 at a tempting price, or keep it as a back up.
I'll try and do some comparisons with the Tamron when the 5 arrives.

BUT most of all with my Tamron 150-600 G2?

The 5 acts identical to the 3 on the A7III.

Don't think the LA-EA5 currently offers anything the LA-EA3 doesn't on the A7M3. Might be an appropriate firmware update, I guess.

Edit: I meant a future update, but I don't know whether that is possible.

I shoot with a very wide variety of dumb adapters, including models with focal reducers, helicoids, tilt, shift, aperture linkages & the Techart pro (giving AF to manual lenses). Some of these are MFT adapters fitted via a MFT to e-mount adapter.

For my first 6 months of using e-mount I didn't have a single native lens. I now have two but have added a full spectrum modified A7ii to my initial Nex6.

A LA-EA4 for fixed focus minolta lenses 50/1.4 and 100/2.8.
A Metabones for Canon EF 16-35/4 IS and 70-200/4 IS USM.

Edit:
I sold the Canon 16-35 in favour of the Sony 16-35/4.
I bought a secondhand Canon 300/4 with 1.4x converter.

I use both adapters and lenses on an A7II and a 6000.

I only have ONE EF lens, the Canon 17mm F4 L TS-E (tilt-shift). It doesn't get used much, but I will never part with it
