It is at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. And one can argue it is no longer automotive as "These new interpretations made clear that Hout Auto can be understood as a sculpture." "The engine will be disconnected" and "the car will be moved in the future without using the engine." (The Conservation Ethics of and Strategies for Preserving and Exhibiting an Operational Car: The Motion and Standstill of Joost Conijn’s Hout Auto (Wood Car)).
And I feel a bit uncomfortable by the video.... All in all, an interesting story and good pictures! TFS. |

Hout Auto - a dutch artist Joost Conijn created this car on base of a Citroën DS chassis, the engine was driven by a wood burning device. He crossed 15 countries in Europe with it, now it is on display the Utrecht Museum. A short movie can be found here.

Thank you Addy. I’m pleased to see that you are a fan of the “green oval” too. Landrovers are in my blood. I was born in April 1948 and the very first Landrover was seen by the public for the first time at the Amsterdam Motor Show in... April 1948. During my 27 years in the Royal Corps of Transport I have driven, travelled in, slept in, crashed in and been shot at in many and varied Landrovers. And I have owned quite a few. When I first joined Dyxum and had to choose an ID I couldn't decide between "bonneville" and "defender", as I own both. I didn't go with defender in case folk called on me to do heroic stuff ![]() It's in the family too. This is my son taking me for a spin through a lake in his Defender ![]() and I was certain the tiny house car was a "new" defender because.... I have one too ![]() ![]() ![]() |
