I have finally upgraded to the A77ii, and a battery grip, such a huge leap from my A700..

Will still keep the A700, as it is still turning out great shots, so far I have tended to keep the 70-300 G lens on the A77ii, but yesterday I put on the pocket rocket, such a stunning combination, next outing will be with the Tamron 90mm macro.

Still thinking about running the E mount alongside the A mount.

That's a darn good camera. I had one and in many ways, that was the epitome of usability, compared to other Sony cameras.

I had A-mount and E-mount sided by side for a while, until I went all E-mount (and my favorite camera, the RX10IV).

Considering it had less that 16,000 clicks on it.I managed to pick it up at a bargain price of less than GBP400.

Paid GBP149 for the grip

Going to try a Manual focus Pentacon 50mm f1.8 with an adaptor on it.

I assume I can use it on aperture priority and stop the lens down manually, and let the camera set the shutter speed, or do i have to go full manual mode?

So much to learn and experiment with

Yes, that works (if I understand you correctly) and enjoy peaking for manual focusing and pinch in for critical focus.

I really like my a77ii. It was such a jump from the a700.

I can recommend the Friedman book to come to grips with all it can do as well. It is so much more capable.
a77ii- and some Sony/Minolta A-mount lenses.
a7riii- Zeiss Loxia 21mm, Loxia 35mm Loxia 50mm, Loxia 85mm, Voightlander 110mm Macro, Sony 24-105mm, Sigma 100-400mm.
