Interestingly, according to some data I saw, the silver one is outselling the black one by 2 to 1, at least according to amazon (us).

Oddly, for some reason, that does not suprise me.

Perhaps there is no front curtain?

Does this mean no BULB mode? On my FE cameras this is the case when electronic front curtain is on.

I have to admit, after weeks of being teased a "sub $1000 entry level" FF camera, getting a nicely featured, but $1800 body announcement has not excited me. This is especially so due to a highly touted feature that turns me off, the swing out screen. I absolutely hate an off-center screen. Even in the ancient days when video cameras had both swing out screens and electronic viewfinders, I always preferred the viewfinder. I doubt we will ever see the a77, a99 multi-angle screen again, but that's the design I appreciate. Oh well...

Still waiting for a definitive answer as to whether the a7c/LA-EA5 combo will work with screw-drive lenses. Asked a question about this on the B&H question feature and got the response "Yes it will". Good, but hardly the definitive answer I'm looking for. If it does, then I might learn to put up with the screen.

I would have opted for silver versions of the A7II and A7III.

It is a bit odd which cameras come in silver

A5000 (also white and pink)
A6000 (also white and graphite--late)
A6300 (silver came late)
A6100 (also white)
A6400

A5100 no silver but white and brown

I still kinda want a silver A5100 with A6100 updates.

Does not surprise me at all. That bit of silver gives it an attractive rangefinder styling.
