Week 8 - Topic 3 (dig in the archive)

In november 2007 I attended my first Dyxum meeting. A combined event with Sony Netherlands and Foto Grijpink in which also a lot of Sony equipment could be tested. A700 tryout and Dyxum meeting Afrika Museum Nijmegen

Equipment was loaned out in batches to small groups and by coincidence I ended up in the same group as Domien (Dopol), and he graciously agreed to model "Frank Zappa style" for my test of the Sony 70-200/2.8 SSM on my then still relatively new KM5D

This photo was never processed or published before. Little did I know at the time that over the next 14 years we would meet many times at Dyxum meetings and make several international trips together, mostly for Dyxum meetings but the last one attending a photo workshop on the Isle of Skye, with nice stops on the way in Edinburg and Glasgow.

I hope the Dyxum meetings can start again somewhere this year

Week 7 - Topic 2 (vintage digital macro)

We put some branches that were trimmed from our fig in water so they would sprout roots and can be replanted. However they also start to develop small figs and new leaves.

Triptich of three details, all photos Helicon focus stacks of 3 or 4 photos.

Thanks, that's exactly why I took and selected the shot. Without the icy reflection it becomes quite dull I think.

@pegelli

Oh my, that's quite the dramatic panoramic. The shot really takes advantage of the lighting and the snow.

Thanks Eddy, this canal was built in 1938 to try and keep the Germans out and at that time had much steeper banks and was also deeper, probably around 3 meter. And then there were no trees and every few km a fort with uninterupted view and big guns.

However in the end it was an outdated type of defense and never really tested, the airplanes just flew right over and bombed some cities and forced the surrender of the Belgian army that way.

At this moment the canal and ~500 meter on either side is a nature area and the ancient forts are a reserve where many bats hybernate.
