Thanks, @Wētāpunga. These little finches are really tough to capture, especially tucked away in the branches backlit. And yes, nice to get the telephoto out and about. I usually have 4 camera bodies with lenses ready to go -- from fisheye to 500mm. It's not a bad setup, ready for most anything!

Nice to see the long telephoto getting a workout. I think I like the second shot of the finches the most. It's got both a good profile and the background is the cleanest. The Black Phoebe is also looking very good. The exposure there is just about perfect. |

Week 14 Theme -- little birds. I broke out the A77ii with Tamron 200-500 last week when I heard these little birds chirping outside. I'm pretty sure these are house finches.
   And an archive shot from last spring, a black phoebe using the same camera setup.

I didn't get a chance to shoot during Week 12, so I'm posting several archives both recent and from 2007. This week's theme, flora.
The first two shots were taken last year at the start of the COVID lockdowns. I stayed closed to home and took these pictures of a wilting rose and dandelions. These with shot using my Maxxum 9 and Kodak Ultramax 400 film. I wish I could remember which len(ses) I used. Not enough metadata with film, LOL!   This massive Moreton Bay Fig tree can be found at Pt. Fermin/San Pedro. I need to go back, see how it is doing. Shot with my Maxxum 5D back in 2007. I'm guessing it was with my Tamron 28-75 at 28.

My Week 11 theme was wall art/street art. I was a little lazy this week and used my Sony 16 pancake with fisheye adapter again. However, I used my NEX-6 this time around.
Mural - Kalaveras Restaurant, Redondo Beach, CA  NEX-6 | 16mm + fisheye adapter Wall Art -- Embossed Tennyson Quote #1 and Quote #2 ... on the wall at my tennis club. Bonus shot this week!   NEX-6 | 16mm + fisheye adapter And for my archive shot, some "street art" ... a painted bench, also in Redondo Beach. Probably gone now. I shot this for Octoberfest 2007. Thanks, Howard. For me, 2010 was the pivotal year when most digital cameras became "good enough." The NEX-3 is not great in low light, but for everyday shooting, it's still not bad for an eleven year old camera.
I usually keep my fish on the NEX-3, 16-70 on my A6400, 55-210 on my NEX-6 and my Tamron 200-500 on my A77ii. I'm always ready to go for any situation, ha! |

Thanks for posting these - I like the first shot.
I must get my NEX-3 out soon for my ‘vintage digital’ theme - I have the 16mm E lens and the two adapters as well. I replicated the set up with my 28mm FE F2, but that’s for another day. |
