It would be great to meet - if a time and place can be agreed. |

Well, it has happened, and what a great day in the 24 deg sunshine strolling between the multiple hangers and displays filled with amazing aircraft, not to mention the flying and static Spitfires. Thank you Bob for being a great host and guide. All I have to do now is work my way through the hundreds of images and post a few here in the next few days.
What a great day, and mini/micro Dyxum meet |

Just a reminder in case anyone finds themselves free and in reach of Duxford tomorrow!

Good point, Phil.
Of course, under my arbitrary naming convention if two meet it's a Micro Meet, for three it's a Mini Meet, for four or more it's a full Meet. One person meeting alone would then be a Nano Meet, I suppose I might do some posts from the Hebden Bridge Nano Meet when I get back. (And I guess I should really call it an Open View.) Greetings from the sunny north. |

Sorry you and Howard can’t make this one. Hopefully it won’t be long before we can arrange another. |

Personally, the cost of entry for a day with one or more fellow Dyxumers to enjoy making photos after the past eighteen months is not my highest priority. I only have my pension but I cannot think of a better way to spend some time than in the company of like minded photo enthusiasts. I am so looking forward to it, and with two arms full of Astra Zeneca I am confident the risk level is okay.
So if you can, come and join us for the first mini-meet of 2021 |

I have noticed that prices in lot of places have hiked this year. I think the reason is due to the reduced capacity. They need to staff nearly to the same level as it would have been were they running normally. So with a reduced capacity people will have to bear the costs of others who are not able to attend. Otherwise places would run under a loss at which point it'd be better for them to be closed than run at all.
I am personally happy to pay the hiked price if it means it keeps the places in business and I am able to support local establishments. I appreciate that not everyone shares my view but that's how I see it anyway. p.s. I can also recommend RAF museum. Its really amazing and its open now too. Haven't been in a while, I might go in the near future. I have my vaccination coming up, so I will feel a bit more "responsible" going out to such places once we have our shots. For those unfamiliar with Duxford..
Duxford is part of the UK's Imperial War Museum. https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford The collection extends beyond warplanes though with a collection of civil airliners that includes one of the prototype Concorde Aircraft, a VC10, BAC111 and a Comet. As well as static displays that include examples of aircraft right from the early days of powered flight, there are also 'working' hangers, where aircraft are being restored and which house airworthy aircraft (mainly prop driven) which are flown on a fairly regular basis. You can never guarantee what aircraft will be up, but in reasonable weather I've never gone away dissapointed. In particular there are commercial flights of Tiger Moths, Dragon Rapides and two-seat conversions of Spitfires. Unfortunately, prices at Duxford have hiked a bit this year*, but photographic potential is still very good. * nb also very good for static displays, is the RAF Museum at Hendon - a massive collection and free entry. |

Unfortunately 10th is still no good for me.
I hope you folks have a good meetup. Certainly would have enjoyed some real human interaction outside my family. |

The whole site is quite airy and open. If anyone can only join later there are lots of landmarks to meet at.

The Duxford IWM website suggests pre booking to avoid waiting (COVID restrictions). Bob and are are booked for an 11am visit if anyone finds they can join us. |
