The 30mm is slightly shorter physically than the 18-55mm?? I think, so you may catch a little of the housing in your shot but the FL is in the midrange of the zoom range so maybe not? I read that the 18-55mm catches the housing sometimes at 18-19mm but ok at 20mm up so you may be fine. It`s worth checking.
This thread may help a little, they use video lights for night stills as well https://www.scubaboard.com/community/threads/meikon-housings-for-nex-5-6-7.473728/ |

Just found a used meikon for my NEX6. Will get new O'rings to be safe. Just need to start searching for a cheap strobe.
Wonder if it will work with the 30mm macro. |

No direct experience of one but did shop extensively for one for the a6000 for kayaking. The Seafrogs/Meikon ones seem to do the trick and if you shop internationally you can still pick up one for the Nex 6 for between 90-130 usd. Worth a punt at that price and never read about any of their models leaking or anything similar, seems to work with the 18-55 in all basic functions.
In the end I wanted more reach and bought the 18-135mm lens and use a ziplock bag in my deck hatch with no mishaps to date so haven`t bought the underwater housing yet but may do so next year. |

Hi
Does anyone have experience with underwater housing for a a6000? I'm going to Portugal in a month and was thinking of doing a documentary about the goose barnacle harvesters. Unfortunately I cannot find any housing for my NEX6 and would have to swap it for a A6000, as it is accessible and with good specs. Plus the price of the housing, it's going to came a bit expensive for something I'll use once a year. Another option would be to buy the Olympus tg 6 and call it a day. I would get 4k30 and 1080p120 and a nice macro mode in one package for the price of the A6000 alone. Any thoughts? |
