The Sigma 35/1.4 Art is GREAT. The AF is good in my experience - In EF-mount, in A-mount and adapted to E-mount. If you say "it is not really good" what do you mean?

Seeing reviews of the Tamron 35/1.8 it seems a good option as well.

The auto focus of sigma 35 art not realy good, with my body A900 in low light it is not focus exactly, the 35G quite better
Sony 35G is really soft at max aperture, I think it good from F2, but the minolta 35 F2 is a better option from that aperture
I do like "old shool" lens of A mount, most of my lens I own is minolta
(Sorry for my English because I'm Vietnamese :D )

Poor me live in Vietnam
There is very little choise for Sony a-mount here, only small amount of guys use sony amount here
I've never seen this lens sell here

That's interesting. Tamron's lens manufacturing seems now mostly in Vietnam. My SP 35mm F1.8 was made in Japan, but the mirrorless lenses are made in Vietnam including many Sony branded lenses.

Actually KM didn't make any APS lenses for A-mount, though they did market three Tamron lenses as their own - DT 11-18, DT 18-70 & DT 18-200. All three were rebadged as Sony lenses.

When I bought my A900 I came across the auto-crop issue and found only one of my APS lenses could be used 'full frame', the Sigma 10-18. There was so little useable image outside of the APS frame that I never used it in that way.

Now I have an A99ii and can use all my APS lenses
FF, but don't.

The OP has decided to go with an A99, next he might find a FF 35 has better corners. I like my Minolta 35/2.

35G is not my choise, I've tested with the DT 35 1.8
In F1.8 it even not sharp as the DT 35 1.8
The 35 sigma is a better choise, but auto focus on this lens not really good

Exif will of course be altered.

And would end up as only a manual focus lens as you've no longer got the motor in the lens connected up to the camera .

You can't just replace five if the eight contacts , as the lens would report itself as the screwdrive lens and the camera would attempt to focus via the in body connection . Except the lens hasn't got a mechanical drive connection .

Even if you retained the other three contacts it would make no attempt at driving the focus drive via the HSM , as the lens chip would say it hasn't got one .

Plus you end up with a lens that could only be sold parts as it'd never AF again !

I got a sigma 35 art and 30 art too but with the daylight the 30 F1.4 is very good with the same F, and it lightweight too. So I wonder to use it for the A900 camera
I've tried to cover the lens contract with the body as 5 pin lens Minolta but only eror with no AF
The A900 with 2.0 version firmware ALWAYS crop the images what ever ways I've tried
Now I think there is an only way: A firmware 3.0 with a fix on this problem. Sorry for A mount that's Sony no more support

There will be no further firmware updates .
Sony's answer was to by an a99 or a99ii full frame camera for that option or rather an E mount full frame camera !
Or buy more lenses !!
Sorry ...
