I recommend the Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 USD over the 35mm F1.4 G and 28mm F2.

35G is not my choise, I've tested with the DT 35 1.8
In F1.8 it even not sharp as the DT 35 1.8 The 35 sigma is a better choise, but auto focus on this lens not really good |

You either like or dislike the rendering of the Minolta/Sony 35/1.4 - it is an old school lens and not optimised for "sharpness".
The Sigma 35/1.4 Art is GREAT. The AF is good in my experience - In EF-mount, in A-mount and adapted to E-mount. If you say "it is not really good" what do you mean? Seeing reviews of the Tamron 35/1.8 it seems a good option as well. |

Actually KM didn't make any APS lenses for A-mount, though they did market three Tamron lenses as their own - DT 11-18, DT 18-70 & DT 18-200. All three were rebadged as Sony lenses. When I bought my A900 I came across the auto-crop issue and found only one of my APS lenses could be used 'full frame', the Sigma 10-18. There was so little useable image outside of the APS frame that I never used it in that way. Now I have an A99ii and can use all my APS lenses FF, but don't. The OP has decided to go with an A99, next he might find a FF 35 has better corners. I like my Minolta 35/2. |

That's interesting. Tamron's lens manufacturing seems now mostly in Vietnam. My SP 35mm F1.8 was made in Japan, but the mirrorless lenses are made in Vietnam including many Sony branded lenses. |

The auto focus of sigma 35 art not realy good, with my body A900 in low light it is not focus exactly, the 35G quite better Sony 35G is really soft at max aperture, I think it good from F2, but the minolta 35 F2 is a better option from that aperture I do like "old shool" lens of A mount, most of my lens I own is minolta (Sorry for my English because I'm Vietnamese :D ) Edited by AxitNitric - 12 November 2021 at 12:30 |
