Some success then. At least that's better than a dead camera. Just a shame it wasn't a complete fix. The A580 is a great little camera.

UPDATE:
I feel a bit silly, because I have now sorted out the issue with the "continuous AF" behaviour. The clue was that it only seemed to happen if the camera was in OVF Mode. In Live View, it didn't. I asked myself what could cause that. Yes, it was our old friend "Eye Start AF", which works when not only the eye, but anything else (like your upper body) is close to the camera rear. I knew that, once, and had switched it off on previous cameras. Didn't realise it was on on this one. It must have happened when I reset the camera, but I didn't notice until I had tried the button cleaning routine, and attributed it to the cleaning. So, the cleaning has worked now - seemingly 100%. The eye start is off, and all is well. Many thanks to all who responded, particularly Hobgoblin. |
