Hi Pieter, that architecture shot is a standout, especially as a black and white image. The composition using those lines is really effective.
The panorama shot is also effective- hard to believe you can pull these off hand held. Are you experiencing a drought anything like Germany at the moment? And the macro looks good also, with the red and orange petals complemented by the green background. Good set for this week. |

Congratulations on the office building, Pieter, that is so dramatic and eye catching with very clear tones. And the flower photo colours contrast well with the background darkness.

Thanks Kai, some of the gladioli of the same plant have been posted already, See here and here. There was another white one which I photographed, but that will end up in the flower thread some day since I picked another macro shot for this week.

Ah yes, I can see you have a good eye for architecture Pieter. Interesting, I did not know about your engineering background.
This week's 18th C shot is also appealing, especially with the black and white shutters to offset the bricks. I think your strongest shot is the gladioli stem however. I assume we will get some lovely gladiolus flower shots later in this challenge. I do like the tall ships, especially with their colourful peanuts and flags. But alas the sky didn't cooperate with the shot |

Thanks Kai, somehow as an engineer by training I'm usually attracted to symmetry. This week is no different

I try to keep an eye out for Photo150 posts on Dyxum when I can, and comment when I can. It does seem that as the other 2022 challenges started up we got a drop off of interest in these however. That said, you usually have something to look forward to Pieter.
For your week 29 the architecture shot looks good- the scene clearly has some strong symmetric lines in it and you've capture them well. The plant macro again is also very well composed. The arrangement of the 3 stalks gives the shot a useful depth and direction. |

Thanks for the comments gentlemen, I don't know many members bother to look here but at least this ensures there's more people seeing these photo's than just me. Maybe I should double post some in themed views to get a larger audience.

Hi Pieter,
You've got some more good shots these last 2 weeks. For Week 27 I like the railway station (in black and white). It's a good composition with the escalators adding an interesting angle/shape. The hibiscus macro shot is also a good look- almost alien in appearance. For week 28 I do like the iris pods as the green on the white background, and the fanning out composition, works really well. |

I rather like the Delft station shot, and I see it’s that Leica again with a classic Rokkor lens. A triumph.
I’m looking at the Hibuscus photo and it’s 40C outside. It captures the moment for me! And your iris seeds macro looks fine to me, for a post-canicule day coming soon, I hope. (Greetings from the Dordogne.) |

Thanks for the comments, sorry about my recently fired up Leica addiction, I'll try not to overflow Dyxum with these off-brand shots but I find the camera delightful to use. The operation is so basic and simple, simply a no frills photo machine. The rangefinder is a totally different aspect I like of it, but that's probably because I grew up with a IIIf and later a M2 (the former was sold but the latter still gets used for film).
And I tried the castle shot with just the yellow rapeseed and the rest B&W but I found it too cheesy, the background is already muted colourwise in the posted shot and the B&W treatment of those parts really didn't look all that fitting with the scene. Hi Pieter
In case I wasn't clear, I thought if the flowers were kept yellow but the rest of the image was black and white, it could be quite a striking image. This week the architecture and landscape shot look the best to my eye, and I think the black and white is my favourite. the sky suits the black and white treatment, and the scene is nicely composed with the lines of grasses, leading toward to trees on the skyline. |

I have been remiss in commenting too, and I am about to be away for a couple of weeks and may not get the chance to comment for a while.
Wow, that Leica is a performer in capable hands! The week 25 architecture shot captures the light beautifully, and if we could view this wek's landscape at a decent size (and I now see that your smugmug site does the job very well) then you have done full justice to that vista before you. I too like the blooming onion, but the light in the lighthouse at dusk photo takes the biscuit for me on that page. |

Thanks Wētāpunga, I'll try the rapeseed/castle image as a B&W even though it was the strong yellow that made me take the photo.
