Is there anyone around who can service/adjust the A700 autofocus system? Mine had the backfocus problem from the factory and I tried to fix it myself, but it has never been right.

As far as I know there is no focus adjust on the A700. If you're familiar with how much it's out, use the focus hold button and recompose.

If it's consistent with all your lenses , then adjusting the three screws underneath to adjust the AF module should work .
The trick is is to adjust them very slowly and keep checking with a test shot at several distances to monitor progress.
Plus making sure each are adjusted equally to maintain the correct field of focus .
Get one slightly out and one side of the frame will be in focus and the other not .

Any camera repair shop should be able to perform this , they'll only probably be able to adjust the hardware side of things , whereas if you'd sent it back to Sony they might have been able to calibrate it with software to a particular lens .
I don't know if Sony would still do service work on such an old camera .

C & C welcome.
