Dyxum doesn't compromise the quality, that is an advantage. TBH I feel FB groups difficult to navigate, but that is probably just me. It all feels so random to me. Nice to have a little shout out for our little corner of the Net. ![]() |

The AU FB groups are pretty active, but its a whole different vibe to here @ Dyxum.
From my perspective FB is easy, Dyxum is a pita for posting images which is why I rarely do so these days. Its been a thing noted by many over time and exists as I am well aware for reasons that made sense long ago. Dyxum is awesome of course, the goto reference, great community but a whole different thing compared to FB which is way more dynamic and immediate. The other thing is that many "new" Sony users lets say have no link or notion to the heritage of Minolta or care, not that there is anything wrong with that. Not trying to be awkward, just saying. This FB group, and the related Sony Alpha Melbourne group, meets about monthly, often at a cafe in Port Melbourne. If you’re in Melbourne and want to talk about all things Alpha-related, come along. I’m not even the only person who sometimes still uses A-mount glass.

As a member of the Sony Alpha Australia private Facebook Group that has around 4.4K members, I got permission from Greg Thomas, one of its Admins to post the following:
"I am one of the 'Alpha Eyes' in the international Dyxum photo community, one dedicated to all things Alpha. I know one of the rules here is no external links but I've had this approved by Greg Thomas, one of our Admins, and I thought members here may be interested in that group. It is very well curated, and contains a wealth of information in its cameras, lenses and accessories data bases, has an excellent repository of posted images on various themes, runs regular challenges and contests, and contains helpful dialogue, feedback and critique. It is free to join, no agendas other than the love of photography particularly all things Alpha. https://www.dyxum.com/index.asp" Clearly Sony Alpha is getting a lot of traction with its excellent product lineup, and this Facebook Group is active with posts, comments, meetings, feedback, various podcasts on new releases and so on. Mark Galer, an Alpha Ambassador for Sony Australia and author of excellent reviews and guides to their range of cameras and lenses, is another of the Admins. Don't know whether this might spark some new awareness or interest in Dyxum, and possibly some new memberships, but thought it can't hurt and would be worth a try. |
