I recently bought a used A350 for my daughter’s first camera. Perfect choice in my opinion! Anyways, it arrived with battery grip and several lenses. Unfortunately the original owner kept the grip on it at all times. Im guessing that caused the little spring loaded blue tab to be faulty now. And the battery foot is missing. The spring on the blue battery hold-down tab isn’t working. Tried a battery door from another camera and Can get a battery to stay in. Camera comes to life.
Best (cheapest) place to get a battery door? How hard is it to replace the little blue tab spring? And where to get one? A parts camera comes to mind. Not sure the best search parameter, given that the parts I need are universal to A-Mount bodies. (Or are they?) Anybody have these parts they wouldn’t mind sending me for cheap? Camera came with Zeiss 16-80mm. I’ve never owned this lens. I noticed the manual focus movement is rather stiff. Is that normal? I could send this lot back, but I think I did pretty well on it. $300 for the camera, grip, 16-80 zeiss, sony 50 1.4, Sony 75-300, Sony 30 2.8 macro, a Sony bag and a small Tamrac backpack. Take a look at these:
www.ebay.com/itm/314535015597 www.ebay.com/itm/373909473089 www.ebay.com/b/Sony-Digital-Camera-Battery-Covers/64352/bn_597207 The A350 and A550 battery compartments may not be identical, but the blue tab and the door probably is? (You have got a decent lens set, I use the 30mm macro a lot, very versatile little lens.) Edited by amrep - 19 April 2023 at 07:39 |

If there's no more local options to you that you can find I've got an A350 with door and still working blue tab that's been gathering dust for a long time!
Think I put it to rest with less than 10 000 shots on the shutter, think I even have the original box it came in stored away. Looking at postage costs using Australia Post to "just" the US it would cost me less than $40 to have it shipped economy air, I'd gladly ship it out for that cost if my first ever DSLR gets a new lease on life. |
