Great to see all the postings on dyxum! I have been a little busy and I am glad I came back to take a look. Here are a few shots I took in Panti, Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia. It was my first visit, it happened to be their national day and it seems the birds knew it as well. This was the first lifer I spotted.

Thanks Joe. Maybe I'm getting some of their relatives in the off season, the nearest vineyard is about 4km as the bird flies!!!

Peter, I remember flocks of Silver Eyes were the bane of my late father-in-law's Yarra Valley vineyard as they descended on and punctured the ripening grapes with their sharp beaks in the lead-up to vintage. They were completely oblivious to the compressed air guns that were meant to keep them away. The only effective deterrent would have been netting.
Great shots.

I couldn't figure out what was eating my mandarins, there was a lot of small bits of peel under the tree which I thought had come from a possum or bush rat. Very very surprised when I caught this Silver eye in the act. It's a very mall bird, the mandarin here is a little smaller than a golf ball.

4 An interloper started a full on fight which I thought might have been fatal it was so fast and furious. Sorry about the blur but I wasn't expecting anything like this and didn't have time to adjust SS.
