Quite, the point of the high fps is not to 'spray and pray', but to get many more shots of the bird when it is in frame.
I don't doubt that with the AI features, the a7Rv is better at many subjects than the a1. It's 'stickiness' with many subjects has been covered well elsewhere. Interestingly, this review of the a7Rv at mirrroless.com found for birds-in-flight it was marginally worse than the a1. Possibly because the a1 can perform a lot more calculations per second, and its bird-eye AF is still excellent. That said, I've had the a1 for a grant total of two days now and I am loving it. I think you have made an excellent choice
If I was offered both A1 and A7RV at the same same price I'd take A1 every time. There isn't a single body on the market even today that matches A1 for its RAW capability. 0.9x EVF, refresh rate, 1/400s flash sync (1/500s in APS-C mode), 30fps RAW shooting etc. It can literally do everything and then some. It's lacking some finesse (better IBIS, focus bracketing, new fully articulating LCD etc). It's just how Sony operate unfortunately but A1ii will most likely be "perfect" ![]() Edited by nandbytes - 30 July 2023 at 23:30 |
