For many years I yearned for a Minolta 400/4.5 G HS lens and was hoping one would turn up for sale in NZ. It never did. Then after I'd switched completely to the E mount, a couple finally appeared. By that stage it was too late- the desire had gone.

I do hope you enjoy those two gems

And I might add, I also have a lens-cabinet rule for lens purchases . If I don't have room for a new lens, it doesn't get bought.

You could upgrade the cabinet

I'm covered from 12 to 400mm.
Only the gap between 400 and higher is itching.

Ok, a mild case of GAS hit me little after Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) and on Tuesday evening I placed an order on a LED ring light for LAOWA 25 mm Ultra-Macro lens. Today I picked it up and I can see this will help me with my efforts on high magnification macro photography. Although, I immediatly found one obvious downside with this light: it does not light unless it is powered via USB. I guess I'll have to figure out how I can easily carry around power for this thing. I probably need to jury-rig a small powerbank on the camera or something like that.

I was GAS trapped a few years ago by a Canon 200/2. It produces spectacular images, but, as I also discovered when I owned various 300/2.8s, I rarely get to use it due to the size and weight....

Paul, I also bought a Minolta AF 400mm F4.5 APO G HS a couple of years ago, primarily because the silver case looks so cool

During the summer, I rationalised my kit, selling my A77 and APSC lenses plus a couple more old Minolta lenses. I kept the 70-210 F4 rather than selling it for a pitiful price. Money raised went towards an A7iv and LA5 adaptor, I already had a couple of FE mount lenses.

The 24-70/2.8 GM II arrived and it seems to be an OK copy, better than my SAL 24-70/2.8 SSM. It will replace that latter, 15 year old lens. It was a really good one and will stay to be still paired with Dynax 7 and a900.

I just picked up a rare Seagull DF-103 -- very early 35mm Chinese SLR. The seller said the shutter was dead, and that the leatherette was pealing off. So I got it for a song.

The leatherette was easy to fix with some PLIO-BOND, and the shutter works fine -- once I pressed the seft-timer release button, which apparently the seller didn't know about.

The luck of the Irish. It's TUMS for my GAS.

So, as a result, I splurged. I now have a compact Tamron 24-70mm AF zoom on the way -- in perfect shape for $20. That's NOT for my Seagull, but for my Sony.

I picked up a 4TB WD Black SN850X for $230. Supposedly the SandDisk Extreme portable drive I ordered back in July for the same price has the same unit inside it, so this wasn't as good of deal. I don't like external storage. 8TB flash drives are still crazy priced, but not as crazy as what Apple charges.
