@ the OP .

On the subject of spare parts , these a member on either here or DPReview whose a900/850 has lost its mirror.
It fell out and he put it in a safe place (!) .
I'll see if I can find the post and link him to this thread .

If your is definitely terminal , perhaps you'd be prepared to disperse your camera around so several others can live again ?

Thanks for the advice Neil, I have one of those magnetic silicon soldering mats with all the little pockets in, best piece of gear I ever bought.
Although I don.t video, my Olympus E-5 does video so will film as I go.May be something quite simple, I live in hope.
If that has no results, more than willing to spread the parts around to help others, no point in having a u/s body about. I already have a couple of those, both digital.
Makes one think My Maymiya C3 TLR and other film cameras all in perfect working order.
