I have an old sony a100 lying around wich i bought in a bundle as defective. first time i turned it on the camera wanted to turn on but beeped at me for around 4 seconds. the sensor cleaning wasn't doing its thing, and the camera's screen would remain black.

after this i never came to it to check up on it again till last week. i turned it on again and once again was screaming at me. after trying different things i eventually got som live in to it with even the sensor cleaning starting up a few times, but never being able to take a picture. Eventually it started screaming at me again. Until one last time i tried and it kept blinking its cf card led. it is a pattern in which it turns on and off 3 times in a row within a second or so, led by a pause of around the same time. it does this 10 times and then waits an around extra second.

could this be some kind of error massage via the card led?

i hope you have some more info since i can't find anything regarding this.

I had a similar problem with an A100 that I picked up a few years back. I didn't have the beeping, but the camera was unresponsive and the LED light was on constantly. In my case, I removed the CF card and formatted it on my computer. That brought it back to life, and it's worked perfectly ever since.
Just an old A-mount dinosaur, mostly now using an RX10m4.
