Even if you are by nature a solitary photographer, you are likely to get a real buzz out of meeting up with other Dyxum members to take photographs. It is fascinating to see how others tackle photographic subjects and great to actually meet the people you have been conversing with on-line.
This topic is for discussion of possible meetings anywhere in Central Europe. Dyxum members are invited to suggest meetings and make preliminary plans in this thread. Once you have settled on a venue and date/dates, PM me or any other admin/moderator about having a specific planned event thread set up (this makes your event more visible to other members!). Keep an eye on regions that are near where you live and, if you are visiting somewhere that has a group, why not drop them a line in their regional thread? An index of all the regional threads, planned meetings and resulting photographs can be found here - Bob Janes |

In the end of February or the end of March 2008, there will be a Dynax Expedition in Slovakia. Several Czech and Slovak dynaxers will come. The subject is the snow and mountains. If anybody is interested to come, please let me know here. Acommodation will be organized by me in one of the cheap hotels. Everybody is welcome.

Hey...that sounds great! I would like to come, but since I'm not exactly rich, first I need more details on the location (to make flight plans, check airfares) and the cost of the whole thing (accommodation, eating and other possible expenses).
Oh, and... I would incline towards the end of March, to give me time to buy the A700 (end of February) and an ultra-wide zoom (heh, what can I say, your 10-20 made quite an impression:) ) |

cezarl, at the end of March, there is almost no snow. And the landscapes are not green yet... its a dull weather.
YOu will be looking for the fares to Bratislava, Slovak Republic. From here, I will have one seat in my car, to leave for the mountains. Exact location is not stated yet, but this is not important to you now. The hotel will be about 10-12EUR for the night. Food will be with restaurants and bufets, so depends on you. Count some 10EUR a day. Simple lunch is about 5EUR. Beer 0.5 liter is 60 cents. Water is gratis, and snow too. |

OK, how long will it last - weekend or maybe longer? End of February could be OK for me - winter holidays will be around this time so maybe I can join with my whole family (well, excluding cats )? |

Right you are! And I can drink a few barrels of beer too (a 0.5 bottle here starts at 1euro, with a Carlsberg being around 1.5-2euros)
Care to join the meeting Mipr? EDIT - we wrote posts at the same time, no need to answer that anymore :) And yeah, I'm thinking the same thing, to make it a one week (or maybe 10days) trip together with Dee. I took a peek at Marek's photos, and I would vote for the higher Tatras (if there's a vote involved, that is) Edited by cezarL - 30 November 2007 at 11:57 |

Once you will be in central Slovakia, everything is close. The meetign will be friday+weekend. If you want to stay longer, i can arrange the accomodation for you. Or maybe you will want to move somewhere else. Its easy, and will help you within my possibilities. There is enough time, and you can study my country very well.

Ok, now you've got me started. Get ready for bombarding with questions :)
We didn't have any winter vacation plans, so this is even more appealing for us. I'm already thinking two days in Vienna, and a week or so in Slovakia. Which mountains are you thinking of? On your website, I saw some awesome pics from the higher Tatras: one close to a village Zuberec and a few from around Lomnicky peak (hope I got it right). I saw those were taken in wintertime as well. Is it hard to get there? I mean, do you need special winter equipment for climbing? Or maybe the mountains aren't very demanding? |

Ausgezeichnet: you are welcome. But you should know, I am not sure about a "trek". The paths up there in Tatras are closed during the winter. There will be walks, but I wouldnt call them treks
cezar: you dont need nothing special, just clothing for the winter and snow, and freezing. Not sure about the destination yet, but if you will stay more time, you will be OK. Lomnicky stit is reached with the cable car. And all other shots are made from easy walk paths. Most of the mountain paths are closed during the winter. Zuberec is nestled in the western part of Tatras, and walks around are easy. But you cannot go up the hills. There are many avalanches. Also ski is possible. |

OK! Not much of a mountain climber myself, anyway...
Well, keep me posted! I'm sure this could be a rewarding meeting. I might have a Canon shooter, who might also be interested- Bernd |

Yep...same here, on both points: I'm not a winter mountain climber either (although I'm all for late spring/early autumn hikes) and I may also have a Canon shooter interested. Are we allowing the darkside to join us or not? :)
