Of course I cannot say for sure that this is my "finest" B&W but it is one I like very much, mainly because of the contrast between the very dark trees and the many shades of gray on this cloudy day, near St.Moritz in Switzerland:

The title of this thread is a bit unfortunate: everyone can have only one "finest grayscale" but I interpret it more widely meaning that you can post more and that others can judge which one is really the finest.
So here is one more from me: a leaning tree (instead of a leaning tower) on the border of the Lake of St.Moritz, with St.Moritz itself in light grey in the background:
Take with Minolta 800si with Sigma 28-200 on Kadak T400 CN film feb. 2000 scanned with Minolta DiMage Scan Dual III.
