I lurk here reading posts and learning, but have never had to actually post. Well, grief stricken, I now need to submit a posting since my beloved 7D is RIP. On a trip to Alaska last week, I put my 7D in my backpack as usual. When we were crossing a street I started to job/run to make the cross light. Somehow, the zipper of the backpack came undone and the 7D bounced up and out of my backpack and crashed onto the street. I barely recovered from the stunned shock in time to get it and me out of the street. ANyway, it will not do anything. No power, nothing. The lens is fine except for the crackec skylight filter.

But, rather than send it to Precision, I have decided to attempt repair on my own. And some of you reference the service manual. Is there an online copy stored somewhere? ANyone have any suggestions?   Rather than spend the $300 US to have it repaired, I will invest in the A700 (I've been accused of engineering the accident just so I can get a new body!) but want to salvage this wonderful camera if possible.

A Minoltian since 1976.....thanks for any and all input.

Bill

Welcome Bill and sorry to hear your story!
I think I have what you want, and can either send it to you (send me your email by PM) or put it somewhere on the web. Let me know.

Ok I sent you the repair docs, please let us know this works out.... For what it is worth, there is a guy, in France that does repair 5D and 7D for low prices, but with the postage and risks it might not be worth it (?).
BTW, you should edit your post and remove your email address (click on Post Options > Edit Post).

I've had a look and while I have quite a few repair manuals/documents for older cameras, including the 5D I don't have the 7D one.

I take it there isn't an online repository to place these for others to access, or was it that KM/Sony complained about it to the board? Or does the IP become a serious legal issue?!

vitor, Thanks for providing the links, they are VERY helpful. The
7D link, however, provides the 7D guidebook, not the repair manual.

Hello:
I tried the link (both of them) to try and obtain a 5d repair manual but was presented with a page asking for a password. Could you send me the password please.

The mediafire site? It's also very spammy. Try here.

Thanks, sybersitizen for putting it all together on one page. Dyxum is not allowed to put up those copyrighted documents.

Maybe you could include the A700 docs as well?

Hi every one!

I'm new in this forum and I would like to know if some one can helme with my canon 7D. Couple months ago I just drop the camera in the middle of a session, since that day it have a button "locked" zoom one that is located at the top right seeing it from the back of the camera. I need a guide of how to disassemble it, the shop that can fix it want to charge me about $370 and I can not pay that much now. Is possible to find a disassemble guide? Thanks so much.
