Bass, as say author, the test, show, how long are from DSLR, to middle format. They not say, a900 is better from middle format cameras, only want compare, and check results.
All of persons who made test are professional photographs (bonecki are photograph, and camera operator for 24 years), but test was made, hmmm "for eye", they based on his experience.

Thank you miq for the articles. Refreshing reading compared to some of the techno drivel, micro analysis and other uninformed commentary seen elsewhere.

The automatic translation by Google is understandable, the pics from the second part are - in my opinion - a confirmation of the first part.

My conclusions:
- The MF cameras - specially the Hasselblad 39MP - have a kind of "biting sharpness" that the Sony doesn't have, however it is partly reversed by the fact that much smaller apertures are required to get a comparable part of the picture in focus, or - the other way round - more parts are OOF.

Smaller apertures require stronger flash heads, which again is an expensive investment, specially for big objects like cars. This makes the incredible cost advantage of the Sony system even more extreme.

Now I have no doubt that car companies will not save money on the photographer by hiring a "small guy with a Sony cam", but there is the whole "Middle class" of pro photographers who may simply not be able to afford a whole MF system, and yet they now have a level of quality at hand that is simply amazing compared to what was possible only 5 years ago.

Being a Kodak SLR-n + Fuji shooter, I will wait what Nikon will offer in the near future, but if they don't bring a high rez body soon, I may buy one of those A900s. It is just that good...

regards
Bernie

Great review of the 70-300G lens. The best review I read for a long time.
Really beautiful pictures of the sailing regatta and a very practical convincing style of writing.
I think I would have carried the author the heaviest lenses but she convinced me to buy the 70-300G.
Maybe together with the Zeiss 16-80.
And leave my prime lenses at home... for the convenience and practical superior usability of these loveley lightweight zoom lenses.

But.. one question is still open after this review. Wouldn't I get the same good results with my A700?
