OK we all by now know that they will most probably upgrade the A700 next year.
What would you like to see them change on this already excellent camera? My Wishlist: Display the ISO on the Viewfinder Statusbar Live View Increase continious Rate to 6 fps or more Increase points on Auto Focus (51 Points like on the D300 would be nice) Increase Cross Type from 1 to maybe 6 I think we will then have the perfect Camera, what do you have to add? Johan, all the things you mention are nice, but I will only consider upgrading my A700 if they also do what HowieS is suggesting.

None of the above would motivate me to trade-in my A700. I would consider switching to a 16-18mp full-frame model with a built-in flash, priced midway between the A700 and the A900.

My thoughts are with Andy's. I also want a much better AF system.

How bout a new kit lens... lets say a 10-300mm f/1.4-2.8 that weighs less than a pound, has a drop in fisheye attachment that will not degrade optical performance and costs under $200.00 USD.
![]() Seriously though I would like to see built in radio slave transmitter for wireless flash with ability to adjust flash output from camera menu. 18+mp ff and everything else everyone mentioned above. |

I agree that improved AF and BF/FF adjustments should be in the upgrade.
A neat feature (not really a deal breaker or anything) would be auto-switching between the memory stick and CF slot, or allowing the camera to save jpegs to one and raws to the other. |

IMHO- leave the live view to the amateur level cameras. AF improvement would be nice, full frame perhaps, if we keep going up on MP's we'll have to get a new computer to handle everything. Faster frames/sec would be nice. Even though I am no where near the 100,000 shutter life, perhaps increasing shutter life would be nice like they are on the pro lines.
To wyip- good idea on the memory stick saving jpegs to one and raw to the other. |

Not that much i'd change about mine. It really is a great camera in just about every way from me. I would love liveview though. I do much prefer an optical viewfinder but for a lot of macro and low angle stuff not having liveview is an annoyance. I have to fold myself into some awkward positions. Still can't imagine paying the cost of upgrading given how well the A700 works for me.

As I sat here and thought about it for a minute, unless you're a rich kid, why would you want to buy the A700 or the A900 with a kit lens. By now, you are stepping up to a better body and already have your eye on, or already have, the lens that you need and want.
Just my IMHO. |

Well, my wish list is:
-Sealed and design like a900 -AF system like a900 (only 19 AF point is enough) -micro adjustment AF -OVF 100% and 0.92X -CMOS Sensor 14MPx (no more please) -ISO 200-3.200 (100-12.800) with one and one a half step of improvement -6.5fps -DRO on RAW file (optional) -Intelligent Preview (I donīt like the LV, but now is a mode) -Pop-up flash -LV and video with phase detection AF system -Tilting LCD 3" HD Price: lower than $1,400.00 AND... I want the 14MPx CCD sensor on a new "a500" with a700 features and lower than $900... ![]() Edited by Alexramos - 28 December 2008 at 21:21 |
